What 2D game would you like to see go 3D?

I never thought I'd want any 2D game in 3D... till I was thinking, yesterday, about a 3D Splatter House. I don't know, it just seemed kinda cool, running around w/ an axe or a huge club, mashing the undead/mutated hordes... in 3D.

I want a Splatterhouse movie myself. Can you imagine that if they kept it just as gory and fucked up as the games? The violence... ohmygee!

Personally i'd love to see a new Solar Assault Gradius on PS3 or maybe the Revolution if it's graphics match up to speed.

Or a 3d Megaman done the right way would be awesome. I visualize hyper-detailed realistic backgrounds and objects decorated with cel-animated style carachters... that would be awesome.

If you can really picture it - a 3d Bubble Bobble/Rainbow Islands game would be so shiek if they could pull off the gameplay right. I have some ideas as to how that would work.

One day soon we should be seeing some stuff like this... with the advent of these new systems and people getting used to our new little 3d toys we should start seeing some innovation...

That whole 'OmG we got 3d' effect is starting to wear off. 3d is starting to be considered 'just the way it is'.

Heh, just when I was thinking some games should be going back to 2d (graphics). For example: Dragon Quest, Contra, Gradius, Mega Man, etc.

I can't think of any 2D game I'd like going 3D.

This game already was 3D back at its time, but I really think it deserve a proper re-release with decent 3D graphics:

Stunts (AKA 4D Sports Driving)

That game ruled back at the day, and I still find it to be one of the best racing games ever. With a current 3D engine and a few tweaks in the gameplay we would have an excellent game.

i did want the new chakan to see release (back on dc), but after playing the genesis game again and finding it pants, lost my interest immediately.

I think Turrican 3D was started, then canned because the developers felt it would suck....

There are a number of in development (sorta) attempts to do recreations of stunts out there, although I'm not sure if any of them are actively being worked on right now. Stunts was one of those games where half the fun of it was in messing with the whacked-out physics though... I remember setting up crashes off ramps and into windmills just to see how far into the air backwards I could get the car to fly...

Ugh. That game was hard enough in 2 dimensions - don't add a third & make the platforming elements impossible! No! The pain!

Simon's Quest (omg) or LOZ1. I would have to supervise. I haven't played a 3D Castlevania, so don't mind my optimism.

Crystalis for the NES. Quite possilbly my favorite SNK game ever. :)

Cant say I would mind seein those two (along with Terranigma) go 3D. Then again I would be just as happy seeing all three titles re-released in their original form on a single GBA cartridge.

Definitely, judging distance by depth in a fast-paced game like Battletoads makes me shutter. I can't imagine how hard a 3D speeder bike scene could be...

Word on. Stunts was probably the best racer of the early 90's.

Started...canned.... Factor 5 lost the rights to produce a sequel and started working on something called Thornado for the gamecube.. which just never really went anywhere.

I was going to say Toejam & Earl, but then I remembered the third one came out on Xbox. Like 3 years ago. I always forget about TJ&E3.

I think some games just don't belong in 3D. I remember really liking Castlevania 64, but that was back when I was in 4th grade or something; couple that with the PS2 Vanias and that series doesn't work in 3D, IMHO.

I wonder how Excitebike 64 turned out.

I think it could work in 3D, they just haven't done a very good job with the N64 and PS2 games. Personally I'd rather see a new classic sidescrolling Castlevania with modern 3D polygons ala Contra Shattered Soldier. That could be amazing.

That's the reason why I think 3D Marble Madness would probably work. I also heard that Pac 'n Roll for the DS is very good too.

Road Riot 4wd. No fuckin question, the best racing/shooting game back in the day. It didn't even get a home port.

Usually I'm against games going from 2d-3d or vice versa but this is one game that truly could benefit from it...

edit: okay I have just been informed it got an SNES port but the port "sucked"

Uh....People, we all know the answer to this question......

RKA! and plz no crap like it's sequel. RKA back to it's roots, would be awesome. Vectorman would be great, but it needs to stick with it's roots.
The 3d Vectorman was cancelled. But there needs to be an Vectorman revival.

Touhou. Implement the feature where you can graze some bullet attacks by dashing found in Immaterial and Missing Power and you have something like Zone of the Enders. I think.

Superbly. Still one of the best MotoX games, or in fact, motorbike games ever released full stop.

Some games that deserve to be revived and 3Dfied:

Kid Icarus
Bionic Commando
Base Warz
Stun Runner (okay, it's 3D already, but a graphical update would be nice)
Super Off-Road
Captain Commando
Shmups: It's all about blowing stuff up!
