sony pvm-20L5 compatible with SECAM ?

Hello there!
I guess it's right place to find some help. I'm planning to buy SONY PVM/BVM CRT TV in the near future to use with SEGA Genesis/MD, VCR, LD player, maybe some PC based content (including HD). I came across the SONY PVM-20L5 model which look very interesting, but since i have lot of VHS in MESECAM (SECAM-B) format - i wonder if the PVM-20L5 compatible with SECAM through Composite, like PVM-20L4? Different sources provides a different information. I'm looking at the 14L5/20L5 manual right now and it doesn't mention SECAM at all, so most likely it doesn't support it.

It is important to note that the major difference between PAL and SECAM is in the color subcarrier. SECAM sets could view PAL broadcasts in black and white. It seems to me that it would be simpler to try different VCRs in connection with whatever televisions you already have. It matters if your tapes are recorded as SECAM-West (France mainly) or MESECAM. If your video recorder is dual-region it should make things simpler. And it surely can't be difficult to acquire a couple older VCRs to test. You could try a PAL-only recorder and a dual-region recorder.

I also think that this should be fully compatible with standard televisions of all types.

Well, the tape-driving mechanism on my old Multiformat VCR is totally dead so i need the new Multiformat VCR anyway.



But i'm not sure in which format output video this device when dealing with MESECAM.
Anyway, my goal is - use all my oldschool devices (and some new ones) with the one monitor.

MESECAM should work in PAL; at worst it'd be b&w, but worth a shot anyway. Can't be too expensive to find one.
