Awesome, this is definitely a buy from me once I've recovered from college textbook syndrome...

I have one small comment (might just be a demo thing): when I press "escape" instead of just quitting straight away could there be a confirmation? I'm too used to using that key to pause other games, and sometimes get confused.

So many games have this problem. I have another problem though, this game refuses to save my progress! Everytime I start it up it acts like this is my first time playing! So I eventually got sick of it and quit.

I had the same problem when I first bought the game. Is the folder where the game is located set to Read-Only?

Could be where it's trying to save... If it's trying to save in the same folder it's installed (instead of, say, AppData) then you'd need to provide admin rights to save to Program Files. (because Windows is that way)

Holy shit this game is awesome on my iPad. Definitely keep making games. Wow, you're better then Cave when it comes to ios gameplay design. Totally entranced by this. Will buy full game when I get my visa hooked into my new iTunes account.

This is a friendly reminder that the Steam version is coming out tomorrow with online leaderboards! I don't have much time these days for shmupping but I will surely double dip.

What decides how much trance multiplier you get in classic for your running-total-bonus-from-graze thing at the end of a stage? I haven't been able to find a pattern really compared to the end of stage bonuses, but that's when it gets added. And does it cap at 25.6? I've ran into that number a couple times.

Are you sure it's not just 360 pad only or something? a lot of games are like that, I often just have to switch ds3 drivers on my ps3 pad.

Is there a built-in option to remap the keyboard movement keys to something besides arrow keys? Yes, I'm aware of the simultaneous keypress limitations of "standard" keyboards and why so many games default to arrow keys, but some gamers invest in nice keyboards that don't have those limitations and would like to use our left hand for movement.

get a logitech classic or a ms classic keyboard, its dirt cheap and i have never had that problem...

It reads both my ps2 to usb with pad and ps3 pad no problems.

hmm... i plugged in my hori vx stick (360 version) and it wasn`t recognised, i will try my quanba q4 on the we. maybe that will work...

I know that some PC games, when you plug in, say, a 360 controller, seem to look for the analog stick and refuse to recognize the d-pad, and will in similar fashion not respond to digital joystick input - I'm not savvy enough to know a foolproof way around it, unfortunately, but maybe someone else is aware of a solution.

That's a very common issue with "controller supported" PC games these days. Very few recognize hat inputs, so 360 joysticks aren't useful without a 3rd party work-around.

I'm noticing some scoring behavior that may be worth verifying. When I have a new high score running, the Score and High Score go up simultaneously and all is well. However, when I get an end of stage bonus, I only see the High Score go up; the regular Score does not receive the bonus. When the next level starts, I have to get more points before my Score catches back up to the High Score.

I purchased this along with Luftrausers and I'm pleasantly surprised that it supports Tate mode. Just started playing and it controls smoothly. We'll see how it goes after extended play time.

I played it yesterday and it recognizes my ps3 pad without any trouble

Also leaderboards are not in game but in "achievements" in the library itself.

Ok, I've managed to duplicate this now. I only see it happening in Classic mode though.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Delete the save file to reset the scores, then play Classic mode. Or just be a badass and curbstomp your high score while playing Classic Mode.

2) Notice your score and high score are the same. Here's a screenshot of the first boss just as it start to explode:

3) Watch what happens when the end of stage bonus is applied. Suddenly the score and high score are out of synch, and it appears the bonus was only applied the high score.

I 'm 1st on a fair few of the boards easy through hard but honestly ive been playing 11 hrs and i don't feel i know everything about the score system to be able to go for it so any help on that front would be nice . Someone called patric has a legitimately high score in extreme classic of 186,042(millions) Yeah i know silly way it's done on the boards so imagine the zeros.
