Help with Mega Drive 2 RGB output

Post by Pegasus »

Hello!

I've been keeping my good ol' Mega Drive 2 for around 17 years now, and, hearing of the improvement that the SCART cables could bring, I leapt onto the RGB obsession train.
I got an old CRT with said port, and, not long after, a proper cable for my SNES. The results were wonderful, with the exception of the displacement. "Alright, let's do the same for the MD and PS1/2 and else after!"

With no way to import any cables and nobody to manufacture them locally,I got the components and I built the cable myself, following Viletim's schematics.

Aaaaaaaaand I got nothing.
When I plug the cable that goes from SCART pin 20 into hole #4 (composite video) on the MD, I get a jittery image. If I plug it into hole #5 (comp. sync), I get nothing... except jailbars (faint, but still).
And the music is buried below a sea of loud white noise.

So I've definitely done something wrong. Could you help me find out what?

All the possible errors that come to my mind are
- covering the union between resistor and cap with electric tape
- bridging all the ground connections, except pin 21 on the scart end
- I read that the +5V cable goes directly to pin 8 and via resistor to pin 16

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
I know I must be far from being the first one who asks, but I couldn't find any other threads about this specifically!
