Border Down epiphany

Post by Randorama »

Well, it should be part of the "useless facts thread" but...

As i said somewhere else (my journal for instance, i'll find the entries if someone cares), Taito and Leiji Matsumoto are closely related. G.Rev and Matsumoto, though?

There is a reference to Harlock in Border Down. To be exact, in episode 19 (original series), Queen Rafflesia says, when speaking with Harlock (near the ned of the episode)... "I have sown seed that have turned against me" (original should be different, i'm referring to the Italian dubbing). In Border Down, the Intro talks about the seeds that have sown (ehr, the seed that have sown, sic!). Namely, Feank Void (the main character), which also happens to have a Matsumoto-esque look. I won't reveal more about BD plot, unless on PM, though

Sorry, needed to spam on this
"The only desire the Culture could not satisfy from within itself was one common to both the descendants of its original human stock and the machines [...]: the urge not to feel useless."

I.M. Banks, "Consider Phlebas" (1988: 43).

I came into this topic thinking it would be a parallel to the GnG thread in off-topic, maybe so-and-so was bonking whats-her-face in the control room before the alien attack or whatever..

From Iriya no sora, UFO no natsu. First time I saw that ship in motion it reminded me of the Border Down Ship (is it called the Anatares-XX, the (color) Wasp, or both?). The anime came out this year, but the novel was released sometime in 2001.
