Really? The only super nintendo cables I saw from her were rgb scart and jprgb21. She never specified sync signals, though if she does now then that's good. If not, then when you order specify that you want csync or whatever type of sync you want.ApolloBoy wrote:She offers both types of cables on eBay so that's not necessary.c0dehunter wrote:Is this something that I need to specify when I order my cable for my Super Famicom? But which one should I get for my Japanese Super Famicom? She offers both types of cables on eBay so that's not necessary.

Re: SNES (Super Nintendo) RGB Cable (for North American NTSC
It's the same video out plug (well, assuming it's MULTI OUT and not A/V OUT as seen on the SFC Jr., as I discovered today). What's different is the other end. SCART will allow you to work with video monitors (i.e. PVMs, though you may also need a SCART -> BNC adapter, also wired as SCART of course) and SCART-territory TVs.c0dehunter wrote:But which one should I get for my Japanese Super Famicom? She offers both types of cables on eBay so that's not necessary.
JP21 for our purposes is only used if you need to get that video to a Micomsoft series upscaler.

Re: SNES (Super Nintendo) RGB Cable (for North American NTSC
The cable listed on RetroGamingCable.com has an option for either:
Composite Video or
Composite Sync
Which one do I need for my Sony PVM-20L5? It is already connected to a BNC to Female SCART adapter cable, and I connect my consoles via their male connectors to the female end of this cable.
But the Composite Video or Composite Sync threw me off, as I was about to order one from him.

D'oh, my bad. OK, look at this thread, particularly the post selected:
http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 85#p907785
Looks like any kind of sync should be good.
But at the moment, I don't see any SNES cables on sale from the seller.

Re: SNES (Super Nintendo) RGB Cable (for North American NTSC
Interesting, I didn't know she offered two different sync options for super nintendo cables.
As for codehunter, I prefer composite sync, csync, since the super nintendo has a dedicated sync pin so might as well use that. I've heard composite video as sync can cause interference as has been reported on rgb modded n64s. That's why I chose csync, composite sync, to avoid any and all interference.

Thanks I will order the csync version then. Why everyone against ordering from http://www.retrogamingcables.com ?TheDrifter363 wrote:Interesting, I didn't know she offered two different sync options for super nintendo cables.

Well, he doesn't shield his cables right. And with the SNES, you're gonna need some serious shielding.
You could ask him if he shields them now.

OK, I just placed an order for my SNES cables, I am so excited. At the moment I have connected my Super Famicom to my Sony PVM-20L5 composite RCA connector, and even that looks amazing! (pronounced RGB lines) I love these monitors!

The one from RetroGamingCable.com. And I am sure he will do a great job in shielding and the overall quality of the cable. (he made the main adapter cable that is hooked up to my PVM 20L5 monitor.

Re: SNES (Super Nintendo) RGB Cable (for North American NTSC
This is his response to me, and I quote:
"Currently our snes cable are not screened, and we cannot supply a screened cable, because we get the nintendo connector over-moulded in a factory, therefore, we dont fit that connector. We only fit the SCART plug. you will receive the best picture possible from your super famicom, and the lack of shielding shouldn't effect the picture quality. Shielding is needed for cases were you might get a small buzzing sound on your speakers"
I am confident that he will make a good cable for me, he knows his trade well.

heh heh.
I have to say "we're too lazy to make any necessary modifications" is a great excuse, always. Is this guy a modder or a middleman? :/

Can't believe I just blew $24 on a fuckin SNES cable. Well, money well spent. (How many games is that Xbox HD pack gonna do me for, anyway?) Need to get another cable from Daskrabs to plug it into though...

What is your display setup?c0dehunter wrote:Hello all,
I have a North American NTSC SNES console, and I would like to get a RGB SCART cable for it to be connected to my Sony PVM 20L5 RGB monitor. I was wondering if you could take a look at the following link, and tell me if it is going to work with my North American console or not, as it states that it is for the Japanese model:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SNES-SUPER-FAMI ... 1183892413
Is this really for a Japanese only SNES console then? Is there any difference between the two systems, as far as the connectors are concerned? If so, can you direct me to a link that has the North American SNES RGB SCART cable then?
Many thanks in advance!

Probably this cable is the right one - I ordered that for my own PVM 20L5.c0dehunter wrote:Sony PVM 20L5 RGB monitor
c0de will also need a Euro SCART to BNC cable (if not already owned), and I think daskrabs' models will suit that perfectly well.

Yes, I already own a female Euro SCART to BNC for my PVM (the RetroGamingCable.com made it for me).Ed Oscuro wrote:Probably this cable is the right one - I ordered that for my own PVM 20L5.c0dehunter wrote:Sony PVM 20L5 RGB monitor

On a sides note, the Sega Genesis cable that I bought from retro_console_accessories, although has stereo out, it does not have a RCA type (RED-White) cable, so I think I have to get a Y splitter cable for it. It look like this:

And I wish it was like this:

Now these images are from RetroGamingConsole, but my original purchase was from retro_console_accessories .

Retro Console Accessories.
Just send her a message about audio out. She'll probably do that for you.
She's a person, not a company. So, she's flexible with that stuff.
Dude, I bought 2 official SNES JP RGB cords. Let's not even talk about the price.Ed Oscuro wrote:Can't believe I just blew $24 on a fuckin SNES cable. Well, money well spent.
