Best PC Engine RGB and Sync Mod?

Post by jamisonia »

I'll be using a PC Engine Duo-R with the XRGB Mini. What is the best mod? I've also seen some people identifying sync issues with some mods too, so I want to have a good sync to begin with. Thanks for your advice!

Hi,

I got the RGB mod kit from Otaku's Store which comes with everything you need (amp, connector, cable):

I'm using it with my XRGB mini and works like a charm.

Looks like the mod on otakus store is using a THS7314 soic. I use this in one of my PCE it works well, If you want to do it yourself it will be a lot less than 47 euros. There's a thread on assembler detailing this one http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/sh ... -PC-Engine

The extra cost for the convenience is going to be worth it for some people.

47 euro (which is a little over $65 USD right now) is still pretty steep for something like that.

So its the THS7314 RGB Mod I see for the N64? That's great actually. Wasn't sure if the NJM was any good since I have those for the N64 mod.

This is something I prefer to do myself actually, and I'll probably just use a custom port.

It's a little different though, for the PCE you need to have pull-up resistors on the inputs, and the RGB signals also need to go through 0.1 uF caps before heading into the inputs.
