Dodonpachi Daioujou Black Label 1-ALL!


It's sure a relief to get this after failing several times on Kouryuu. Did this without savestates too (excluding one on the title screen and another I had in stage 1 to experiment with some chaining), mainly to prove to myself that I could do it, as some extra practice on the later stages really would have made this easier on me.

Nice one. What character did you use, Dead Liar? Did you get the TLB? (By TLB I'm referring to filling up the satisfaction bar on the stage 8 boss to level 3 and filling up the bar on the boss after that. If you didn't, you really should try going for it, as it's a one-of-a-kind experience.)

Finally got a 2-ALL of Cho Ren Sha 68K!

Cho Ren Sha was one of the first shmups I played back in high school, around six years ago. I think I discovered it around the same time I was getting into Touhou, and before that I had only played a couple shmups like Warning Forever and Kenta Cho's games. At first even getting to stage 3 was an uncommon experience for me, but over time as I got more practice and experience I was gradually able to progress further and further until I got to stage 0 (which really surprised me at the time since Touhou had gotten me to assume that all shmups had six stages), and then a 1-ALL and a couple stages into the second loop. When I got back into shmups about a year ago it was only natural for me to come back to this game. I eventually filled up my entire highscore table with 3-0 deaths:

but never quite managed to pull off the 2-ALL, even though I even made it to the last phase of the TLB several times. Every time I would choke somewhere during the run, usually during the last few stages where exhaustion sets in (I've never used autofire and 2 x 7 stages takes a while), and end up with too few lives for the home stretch. This time, though, I managed to hold myself together! Didn't do great on the 3-0 boss and the TLB but I had enough lives to pull through.

I never really went all-in spamming credits on this game like I have with some games (like DOJBL recently), so I see my progression not just as improvement at this game in particular, but as improvement at shmups in general. This and how much I love this game (I can now say with confidence that this the greatest game ever created) makes this clear especially important to me.

I think I'll try Hard mode some more now. I've played it a couple times but never stuck with it because I wanted to focus on 2-ALL'ing Normal first.

In spite of saying I didn't care anymore (and the frustration in this mornings session) I did manage a little over 3 million in UD's first loop on the way to slightly beating my personal best by 50,000.

Still want 5 though.

Mega congrats on the clear. And yeah, definitely give hard a try. I personally think it's where the game shines the most, turning it into a manic rng dodging craze.

I cleared Crimzon Clover Boost for the first time... with a shitty 4.64bil score. Completely fucked up Stage 3, Stage 4 and Stage 5 but got an okay Stage 5 Boss and TLB after all the fuck-ups so the game clear bonus got me the PB.

Complete clusterfuck of a run, I need that 5bil. It was in reach until the Sturm Fortress section on Stage 5 where I bombed and then died to destroy the run's potential.

^ this was a particularly painful game to clear for me, I literally forced myself to do it! Weirdly, I was having a terrible session, about 4 ridiculous runs, 3 that ended at various points on stage 4 and 1 that ended on stage 5... It was my last run before I was set to turn everything off, so made it on the 5th run! It was pretty unexpected...

Glad it's done! It is a great game, but I've never had a soft spot for it... Probably one of my least favourite cave games, I did learn to love it a bit though...

@ Stevens, you don't know the relief I feel that I don't have to play this again! (I probably will though, just not for a long time). Yeah it was weird, I started to get down about this after a few other people clearing it (white and black label) recently left me thinking, what the hell's wrong with me? Why can't I do this? And then got it unexpectedly this morning after some ridiculously bad runs. It was the last run of the day that got it. I Still doubt I'll ever get the under defeat clear...

Just cheesed the FWUCK out of Donpachi. Delivered a payload of bombs to that final boss. Got that 1-ALL..

I got to 2-3 then had to get the door, was recording an inp and didn't want it to de-sync if I paused/didn't really care.
It is a shame though, I was kinda in the zone.

Broke half a million point mark in Final Boss when had no internet. Far from clear though.
The 477k one is an actual clear, but I won't count it because I cheesed everything with charge shot and skipped all of secret bosses.

Got the 1-All 1CC in DoDonPachi II: Bee Storm, beat the true last boss. Final score was 1,593,269,290 in combat mode using energy type. Really fun game didn't take too long to get it. More people should try it.
