I keep up with Dolphin Emulator and a little while ago they had a major patch that fixed the aspect ratio not matching the console (they just stretched it to 4:3 or 16:9) so I took a screenshot from both.

You will have to do a proper mod for the PAL consoles to fix the black level issue. Basically you need a circuit that switches between a PAL and NTSC oscillator to generate the correct frequency.PunishedSnake wrote:I've noticed some oddities with RGB output from 60hz modded PAL systems I own, aside from the 241p issue which is a quick fix, is there some sort of difference in black levels and brightness between PAL systems and NTSC ones?
My NTSC Super Famicom and modded PC Engine DUO-R seems to be completely unaffected by this, just wondering if any of you had any theories on what could be done to rectify this?
I figured they were about the same thing anyhow.FBX wrote:Smashbro29 wrote:Whenever I use my Wii I've been using FBX's Gamecube component profile but I wonder are there are any differences that would warrant a Wii one?

I didn't develop the GC profiles on a Wii, so I wouldn't trust it to be correct AR anyway.
If you notice, there is a black border on the top and bottom of the Framemeister image. Taking both images and cropping out all black borders, the AR on each:Smashbro29 wrote: I figured they were about the same thing anyhow.
Oh well.
Oh, wish I could get it perfect. I've been trying.FBX wrote:If you notice, there is a black border on the top and bottom of the Framemeister image. Taking both images and cropping out all black borders, the AR on each:Smashbro29 wrote: I figured they were about the same thing anyhow.

Dolphin = 1.7370
My profile = 1.7366
That's only a difference of 0.0004. I'd say that's pretty damned close. Now account for the diffuse horizontal edges on the profile image, and they are likely exactly the same AR.
Well you could play around with the zoom settings if you wanted the Framemeister image the same size as the Dolphin one. I do recall making an F-Zero GX profile that filled the 16:9 screen. You could compare those if that game works with Dolphin.Smashbro29 wrote:Oh, wish I could get it perfect. Wii looks better on the mini than straight component but it's still pretty bad.

Yeah, I'm guessing F-Zero GX doesn't match with the Wii.austin532 wrote:Tried the FZero GX Wide profile as well for the Wii and the sides are cut off.
It actually doesn't match with other GC games either. It has its own unique positioning on the screen, which is why I had to make it a game-specific (and console specific) profile.Smashbro29 wrote:Yeah, I'm guessing F-Zero GX doesn't match with the Wii.austin532 wrote:Tried the FZero GX Wide profile as well for the Wii and the sides are cut off.
I think a Wii playing Gamecube just copies the Gamecube though.FBX wrote:It actually doesn't match with other GC games either. No, what I'm saying is F-Zero GX itself doesn't conform to the same positioning as even other games on the same console. That's why when you tried that DK game with the F-Zero profile, stuff was cut off.Smashbro29 wrote: I think a Wii playing Gamecube just copies the Gamecube though.
The DK game was Smash Bros. BrawlFBX wrote:No, what I'm saying is F-Zero GX itself doesn't conform to the same positioning as even other games on the same console. Same here. The GC progressive profile seems to work pretty well with the Wii in 4:3 mode. I imagine the Wii profile settings can't be that much different. Widescreen seems to be a whole different story.Smashbro29 wrote: Though I really would like a Wii profile. I'm trying to make it myself but man the Wii just sucks.

Must be your monitor. I see two different shades of green in both the before and after images.Smashbro29 wrote:http://imgur.com/a/b8iJr
Updated, RGB limited solves some issues. My TV looks great but I'm realizing that maybe my computer monitor kinda sucks at colors. Using an ASUS 236H via DVI.
Yeah you're right, second Green Hill Zone image still differentiates them better.FBX wrote:Must be your monitor. I see two different shades of green in both the before and after images.Smashbro29 wrote:http://imgur.com/a/b8iJr

Not on mine. In fact they look about the same, with the only difference between the two images is the before pic has more saturation.Smashbro29 wrote:Yeah you're right, second Green Hill Zone image still differentiates them better.FBX wrote:Must be your monitor. Yes the 4K Sony sets upscale properly, the Samsungs (well at least some models) apparently don't.

EDIT: have you tested the scaling of 480p and 1080p modes as well ?
