picTo fill the board a little I suppose.
Been derusting recently, playing around mostly in practice but did a handful of credits with the ships to decide what I'm gonna stick with, nothing serious yet. I'll stick with Type-II unless it turns out to be too impossible for me. Gonna rant about each ship quickly, even if no one probably cares. From an Unlimited perspective since I've never played any other mode. Feel free to ignore.
Type-I is pretty amazing, while it has somewhat low gauge generation, low movement speed and a pathetic shot, the lock (by far the most important part) is the best in the game and gives you a fairly good experience on the stage portions. The bosses are kind of a pain in the ass, mostly stage 2 and 5 bosses, my routes are a little shit on these bosses in general however so I'm not sure how true that is. Pretty much every flaw it has is non-existent (power still on the lower side) in double break, if you can get your double break it's smooth sailing ahead. Above all it's just an easy ship to play.
In theory Type-II should be superior to Type-I in every single way but the lock-on. Except not really, the ship is extremely clunky and you have to pay extra attention to your options for anything to work properly. It doesn't sound so bad until you realize Unlimited has a lot of movement and lock-on usage, lock holds the options in place, which is nice but if you're holding it all the time when do you have time to reposition them? It's not all bad though, like I said earlier it has pretty high specs and it has a similar stage experience to Type-I and better boss performance, if you figure this ship out I think it might be better than Type-I but the road there is rocky to say the least. I'm not even close.
Type-III. It's fast, and that's about the only thing it has going for it, and the use of this 'speed' (TL note: warping) is situational. The shot is fairly strong but it has no width and the break gauge generation is truly abysmal, it does not get worse than this. The lock is where this ship is confirmed as trash for this mode, it does not generate break gauge or break rate, it has no range, and the locking on itself is extremely slow. Unfortunately it can still get worse, the lock has a large delay between release and actual hit on the enemy, cancels have never been this "exciting". All the stage portions are just bundles of pain and the simplest things are now inconsistent messes. Atleast bosses are go- no they're terrible, the break generation means the breaks are always too late, you can pointblank all you want but they'll still be late or straight-up non-existent. I did find the stage 4 boss milk pretty comfortable with this ship however, one of the best at this.
Type-Z is just the best at literally everything in the game, it's a fast Type-I on steroids. The only downside is the reduced break rate gain, which means mistakes are more costly, especially on stage 4, it's very difficult to raise the break rate on the bosses as easily as every other ship and dying before the stage 4 boss is a terrible mistake, it takes too long to get the break rate back up to it's previous value and you end up not getting that many points regardless of how well you play after the mistake. Break rate reduction means it also scores less overall, but this is not an issue as ship scores are hardly comparable.
Rant over, sorry to anyone who read it.
