ZeroRanger is a vertically scrolling 2D shoot'em up that's about to release on Steam and itch.io this Friday, September 28th.

In terms of gameplay ZeroRanger is rather traditional. You shoot down countless enemies, dodge dozens of bullets and collect new weapons as you make your way through four stages full of relentless action.

If you've ever dabbled into the Development section of these forums, you might have heard of this project while it was a freeware project called FINALBOSS. Me and fellow dev eebrozgi are excited to finally put a proverbial bow on this project (at least for now)... We hope you enjoy it!

We're also holding a score attack event on Twitter for the demo version of the game, with a chance of winning a free Steam key for the full game. The event lasts until the day of release.

I never actually played the demos because when I saw footage for the first time during development I was immediately into it and wanted to wait until the final release.

This game is phenomenal so far. I'll probably end up going back and trying the demos at some point just to look at the changes over time.

I keep dying around the early stages because bullets are fast and enemies are everywhere, but the game is fair enough with the tools given and enemy telegraphing
Presentation and pacing is nice and frantic, I never get bored, it's got the cinematic flair of RefleX but without all the downtime
Zeroranger has more effort put in its second loop than any other shmup I can think of

This game is absolutely fantastic and is a must buy for everyone, seriously.

There's a few things that needs to be done to be perfect (button remap for joypads, better looking scanlines, ingame resolution switch), but that souldn't stop you to play what i think is by far the best shmup of this year.

Quick tip for everyone : i play in 1080P TATE mode, and i got terrible screen tearing. I managed to fix that by switching Windows resolution to 1080*1920, then everything was smooth ingame.

Play it, this is dope.

This site is bad for my pocket. That's 2 new games in two weeks! First impressions are good. It feels tight and I love the music. Playing on Steam on a large tv screen at 1080. Looks and plays great.
