Radiant Silvergun 20th Anniversary
Radiant Silvergun 20th Anniversary
The game technically turned 20 two months ago, but on this day, Radiant Silvergun was released for the Saturn.

I thought you were gonna say something was planned for it.
You just got me excited, and now I just feel old.

Same. I was hoping this meant Treasure was actually going to revive it for current gen platforms again. Sigh.

Isn't Treasure working on a new shmup now anyways? Not that we'll see anything about it for another 20 years.

Damn, I've been fooled...
Re: Radiant Silvergun 20th Anniversary
Just saying that this game was released 20 years ago...
Re: Radiant Silvergun 20th Anniversary
What I find much more shocking is that this forums makes me feel like it's still 2006, but that was 12 years ago...

Re: Radiant Silvergun 20th Anniversary
I'll have to play it - ever trying to make it past stage 2 (or 4?) on one credit. Radiant Silvergun can be so long, too long, even on arcade mode, and the small amount of extends coupled with precise maneuvers necessary can exhaust me. While I've said it before, I'll always love the sheer indulgence in which the game throws ideas out there. Some of the core conceits don't work, but it's salvaged by the loving amount of creativity in the size, number, and scope of all its boss fights. It's hard to stay mad at a game like that.

We're gonna get a WonderSwan port of Ikaruga before we see Silvergun come to PC.
Re: Radiant Silvergun 20th Anniversary
The arcade version is not terribly long assuming you're not milking everything (~half an hour for the stage 2 path), it's just a lot of it is front-loaded in the first two stages (stage 3, stage 2/4) with all their sub-stages. In addition to the boss fights I'd give some credit to the stage portions as well, which manage to all feel very unique and inspired, which few vertical STGs can manage without devolving into "wave of generic popcorn enemies #37" at some point.EmperorIng wrote:I'll have to play it - ever trying to make it past stage 2 (or 4?) on one credit.
