And the title screen logo - I don't think I've ever seen a CAVE title logo without Japanese characters at least below the main title.

The title screen artwork isn't new. It's from Ibara, the first game.



All in all, this game is 100% a romhack given the evidence, and as such, I'm interested to know where the actual patch itself is.

I don't think so. Someone around here a few years ago made a program to extract the sprites out (of the non yagawa games anyway).

I thought you could overwrite the program flash chip directly on the board, but to my knowledge, replacing the graphics requires replacing those chips?
