Not that true Shmuppers need motivation...

Post by Haystack »

...but, on seeing a fantastic thread over on RPGNet in which a large number of folks have created motivational-style posters related to role-playing games, I decided to recycle a "Videogame Moments That Never Happened" image I bashed together for a thread on FARK.COM into a poster for my favorite sort of video game, ever.

(I'd drop a link to the RPGNet thread, but it has a LOT of Not Safe For Work stuff in it, and I'm not sure whether such is allowed to be linked here!)

In any case, here's what I came up with. Use it as you will, enjoy, be merry, all that jazz. :)

I personally suck at finding links, so can someone put up a few on Imageshack for us? I don't like having to dig around a forum. :D
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

Thanks, thanks. I think I'll make myself a new Imageshack account and upload any Shmups-related goodies there.

Here it is: http://www.imageshack.us/user/shmups

Also, a vert version... why... that sounds like a project! :D

I've seen a sig here that I think could make a pretty good tagline for the vert version:

SHMUPS: You play this... for fun?

;)

This Motivator creator is pretty good... and, joy of joys, it has an option for portrait-oriented pictures (e.g., vert shooter screens)!

I've an idea for a vert one, just need to wrangle up a nice screenie to go with it.

Here's another shmup tagline along the line of borrowing from the original NASCAR tagline:
Shmups, how BAD have you got it?

That motivator generator is sweet. What would be really cool is to get screenshots of either death scenes or neart-death scenes (i.e. no escape possible) & do the "Demotivators" thing with it.

Such as: use a Gigawing or Mars Matrix screenshot w/ more bullet spam than you can possibly reflect, & say something witty about dying or losing a life.

Oooh, very nice indeed, Icarus! :D

FRO, I love that idea... I can think of a few headlines right away... (Over)Confidence, Foresight, and Luck. Maybe someone can come up with some good screenshots and taglines to go with those! I'll be thinking on 'em...

Hee hee, amusing, though somewhat offset by the couple of extra lives shown remaining in the upper left corner. ;)

Or as a framed poster collection. I am having a hard time to decide which one of those should be my new desktop wallpaper... I like the Ibara screenie, but the taglines "Not for sissies" and "Why don`t you try hard?" are sweet stuff too. 8)

I agree w/ FrederikJurk on this one - I'm buying a house & along w/ the Star Wars posters that will be on the wall :D I plan on putting up some of these Motivators/Demotivators because I think they're funny & they fit my quirky personality

That is quite the expanded vocabulary. Although I can't say the screenshot is quite as pleasing. Good work though. These are all funny.

And I really liked the quote.

P.S. Made entirely in paint. I am proud of that.

These are really great! I especially like the sentiment in the firepower poster.
