I'm going to break this down exactly how the game does it (what a mess). Please play with the default extend setting (3). Be sure to post scores/times in the following format:

Mode - Difficulty - Ship - Name - Score/Time - Stage Reached*
*not applicable for Time Attack

Examples:
Standard - Normal - Phoenix - Kiken - 23,000,000 - ALL

Here it came on Monday, and it's Friday night. I never bothered with the Normal mode- going straight to Hard. POW, down it goes. I kind of miss the endgame bonus, but what the hey- I suicided on the final form of the boss, then rinsed him to heck and back again with a L2 Over Weapon right at respawn.

Now I realize that a leftover ship is worth 100K in Hard mode (contrary to what I thought, there is an endgame bonus), but I probably came out ahead on that deal. 1M on Maniac is too much to piss away though.

came in the post this morning did this in 6 goes , however i think this game is pretty good tbh im yet to try the harder modes + diff ships but i think there is some challenge there for those that want it .

Ok, time to tackle Maniac with Rynex. I don't think I can beat Kiken though...

Yep. It was a No Miss run. And so was this one:

I missed a couple of thousand pts in this run (forgot about the extra CRAW in the fire stage and missed a few odd enemies), but I think I used my Over Weapon about as well as I could.

^hmm I've seen a youtube video with 35.7 million, I wonder where that guy got the other 2 millions then...?

Anyway, I think i need some more practice till i can no miss maniac.

Which ship was the person using?

I think you'd have to nail every green reticle target for 16x, which is rather difficult. Unless there's another hidden extend or 2 that we haven't found yet.

The video's quality sometimes makes it pretty hard to see if he got x16.

I figured it out. He abuses Phoenix's Wave weapon (which is actually quite powerful), and he tries to finish every level with a good deal of Over Weapon stock.

Ahhh... Yes, funny thing is, after reading your post about the OW stock in the strategy thread i was gonna check out the video again.

I think the Rynex's Blade is slightly weaker than the Phoenix's Wave weapon;
The big ships in stage 4 go down much quicker with the Phoenix.

Are there multiple boss parts to destroy or is it just "form a" etc.? The way it targets different parts is kind of weird if not.

I'm still working on that Maniac&Rynex No Miss. Damn ocean stage's crate corridor always destroys my shield or kills me...



Nah, sadly no bosses to take apart on this one... Unless i missed something.

Thanks. I use about 3 separate overweapon attacks there with hunter.

Yeah, same here.
But I want to make it through without OW, problem is that freaking corridor is just too random with that blue enemies who pop out of the crates

Yeah, I don't think I've ever ALLed a game so quickly.. pretty much everything will go down with two overweapons...
Wish there were more scoring parts in the game, as I feel like there is not much else to do in the game anymore (except play on every single difficulty with every single ship...)
