Sounds good to me. I'll be busy for the second week of the tournament, but if you'll still have me, I'm in.

It's unfortunate that we must face each other on different fronts, comrades. Then again, History does work in scientific, but sometimes unpredictable ways. :)

Edit: here's another banner for you guys:

Seriously, I must have missed some international news, but... Could someone explain me this bizarre connection between Canada and communism?

I mean, I know that they are generally nice, liberal, open-minded, gun-less people, but it's still a far cry from being Leninist... At least in an European view :)

Oh, International Worker's Shmup Team! It would be a honor to shoot for you. But the national pride of being a swede wins this time. At least I'll cheer on you, comrades.

A Leninist wouldn't have an avatar of a Lenin painting/propaganda, given his absolute opposition to the cult of the individual. In short: it's a joke. :P

Wait, there's another explanation: they are stalinists, and use Lenin as an Avatar just like good ol' Josif used him to reinforce his own cult ;)

Well then who put Lenin in the anthem of the soviet union?

"O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!

Through tempests the sunrays of freedom have cheered us,
Along the new path where great Lenin did lead."

oh ya....

The Bolsheviks made L'Internationale the Soviet national anthem. It remained so until 1944, when Stalin replaced it with the Hymn of the Soviet Union for reasons of morale. Battlefield reports indicated soldiers were more willing to die for Mother Russia than for any "international working class."

L'Internationale was written in 1888 by Adolphe Degeyter (words by Eugène Pottier, 1871). Adopted by the Socialist International, it was once was one of the most sung songs in the world, rivaling Amazing Grace and Silent Night in international renown.

maybe it's time for a new avatar...

ANYWAY!

Welcome Never_Scurred and ArcticXC. YOU Are HONOURED!

Comrades, Genossen!

Finally had time to make my first post. I must say I'm honoured to be on this team, because only communists know what real team playership is!! As you can see, I joined with an avatar of one of the founding fathers of communism: Karl Marx. Here's a quote from this great thinker for inspiration:

"The proletarians of the world have nothing to lose but their chains (). They have a world to win. WORKING MEN OF ALL COUNTRIES, UNITE!"

~Das Manifest der Kommunistischen Partei (1848), by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels
