Considering what happened to the Xexex port that was once announced by the same company, many of us here will probably be wary of putting too much stock into this announcement, but I figured I might as well toss it out there anyways. This is from recap once again again - the next two Oretachi Geesen Zoku games have been announced, which you'll recall are PS2 one-off ports of arcade classics, most of which haven't hit consoles previously. The next two, revealed by famitsu (reprinted in rakuten here) are Trio the Punch from Data East (pictured) and Thunder Cross from Konami.

Yep, the castlevania game for the arcade is stupid hard. Even the PS2 port doesnt give you unlimited continues. I understand not being able to continue from where you died but please allow the player to start from the beginning of the level. You only have about 2 credits for the entire game and the game is hard.

PlayAsia has had preorders up for some time.
I just noticed yesasia has preorders up as well, and they actually have pictures of the cover art (for what its worth) ..just strrange that Hamster still hasn't updated their Oretachi Geasen page.

You're confusing Thunder Cross with Thundercade; Thundercade got a NES release, Thunder Cross never saw a home port.Lawfer wrote:Yeah I have know about that since November, but which version is this? Don't tell me it's a port from the NES?!!

No, I agree.mice wrote:The sequel isn't half as good as the original, am I lonely in this?
BTW, just a friendly reminder to everybody that this game has now been released.

It may not be, but they're both great shmups, and it's well past time that either one got a home port, considering how long they've been around. Major props to Hamster for that.CIT wrote:No, I agree.mice wrote:The sequel isn't half as good as the original, am I lonely in this?

I didn't notice it on Play-Asia's site but NCSX shows it coming w/ a ton of extras. Seems that a great deal for the price.

I received my copy last week. Been working on the 1CC. One new addition to the standard options in the Oretachi releases is the controller config. Yay! Other than that, they are about the same quality as the other releases. So if you had a problem with the resolution of the other releases, then you will have the same problem here.

Will probably be another 2 weeks until I get my copy. P-A always takes aaaages to ship.
Anyway...
So what exactly is the case with Thunder Cross?
Anyway...
All Oretachis up until Rabio Lepus are interlaced (480i). Since Rabio Lepus they have all been in the correct resolution (240p).CecilMcW00t wrote:So if you had a problem with the resolution of the other releases, then you will have the same problem here.

I just got mine. And it was the fastest shipment I ever got from P-A. They sent it on Thursday, I got it today, and I used the cheapest shipping option available.
I'm liking it, both from gameplay and technical standpoint. Haven't seen any problems like the ones GP mentioned.
Here's hoping Hamster keeps doing these.
