Defaults for arcade? I think the DC version is difficulty 4 while the arcade's is 2. I have it on DC's for now.

I don't have a score to submit (at least as of yet), but perhaps you should specify whether to submit scores with comma markers every 3 or 4 numbers in. Personally, I think 3 makes it easier to read, since it splits up the hundreds, thousands, millions, etc. nicely, but that's just a suggestion.

the jp. CPS2 version defaults to 4, as the DC version does, so I think we should use that. 3 lives, 2 bombs. I edited your score to the 4digit+comma format, since that is what the game shows the score in. When I learned to do it, I will edit the list to use the original number colors.

IlMrm - 6,5010,1720,1010 - Isha - Stage 6

Dreamcast difficulty 4.

Somehow got the 1up(in a different run) on stage four, I didn't even know what I did. :o

Damn, stage five is hard. I got hit by the boss' horizontal laser beam. That's gotta be the first time I ever got hit by a horizontal beam in a vert scrolling shooter.

You can only trigger the 1-up if you've lost a life, so like Shikigami, you can never have more than 3 lives at one time.

Ahhh I see, thanks Nemo.

Is it me or do the reflect barrier seem slower/sluggish to come out compare to GW2? The planes/controls sure seem more sluggish.

that´s one thing which is better in the CPS2 version. Speed is also slightly different. If there were more people competing in this thread, it might make sense to split up the scores depending on system. For now, it sure doesn´t.

8'1531'9264'9580 / Raijin / Stage 6 (CPS2)

If you want to use that colors, Raiden. Just spell in front of the number(color=red) and behind that number write (/color) to end the command (That's import to get your normal color back. Offcourse you have to use "Eckklammern"(don't know the English word) instead of mine.

Say Rob, how did you get so many points in Stage 5?
If you would reach the sixth Stage with so much Bonus Points your Score surely would explode.

This is one of my favorite Shmups, every time I put this game on I'm motivated to get a new score and often get one. Even if I haven't played for a while. Other shmups get more frustrating when you try to break your record, at least in my opinion.

Just trying to get as many medals as I can. I think I recall the highest scores on the last GW thread were 50-80 trillion. :?

i think you should split the scores, the arcade version is way too different, like 50% easier due to slowdown.

ill submit a score when i plug my DC, which will be tomorrow.

Jeez, some of these scores are big! Have you got any scoring tips cos i've got to be doing something wrong-mine are about 2 digits smaller than everyone elses! This is my paltry effort:

7196,4436,0350 - stage 5 - ruby

pitiful ...

Well, i've somehow contrived to double my score without really doing anything different! I think Isha's homing missiles help cos they don't miss much when they're powered up fully.

1,5082,6330,5960 - stage 5 - isha

If i could cut out the stupid mistakes i should be looking at the last boss by now!

Practiced 5 yesterday, finally got to 6 today. Wasn't scoring as well, but managed to survive for about a minute which shot it up another 3 trillion. Also saved you the effort with the color codes. 8)

Bah, much better scoring game, but died almost immediately on 6 with 4 bombs (none used ;_;).

Collect medals, destroy as many enemies/boss parts as possible. I still have a lot of work to do too. Ack. Head over to the strategy section and let's talk.

Edge explained the process in this very thread. However, no need to bother anymore, Rob (except if you happen to like this procedure, like I do :) ), because I have to re-format your entry anyway, copy&paste doesn´t keep color information.
Pretty impressive score, btw.!

Hit "quote" on his post and copy and paste from there:

Very nice Rob.

I think level six is one of the hardest and most epic shmup level I've ever played. There are so many parts, and countless tough patterns. Made tougher because there are patterns that require quick twitch dodging, and the seconds while your reflect gauge is refeilling you really have to be on your toes. Overall a real nightmare. And I am not even gonna mention Stranger...

Yeah, that's a really fun stage after you know all of the patterns. Before that it's pretty intimidating. I've never seen stage 7 (Stranger?). How does that compare in length? Depending on stage 7 I think this might be slightly harder than GW2.

Oh and that scattershot blue bullet mess on the tile form is pretty ridiculous. I think that's a bomb section unless I'm missing something obvious.

stage 7 shouldnt be TOO hard, if you have enough bombs and pound the stranger fast enough...it may be worth more to not use bombs, but GW hitbox is a wee bit too big for those last patterns.

as for the blue noisy spam of the cube form of the 6th stage boss, yea, i agree thats a bomb section, the bullets are not near enough visible for me and i just end up dying, maybe someone with better eyesight can do it, not me.

i used to have a better score on my old save, but now, i got a new dreamcast and ivee lost the habit of playing with the pad...
ill just wait til i find a PS converter to play my DC again.
