My plan was to hold off on posting an improvement until I got to 1-6. That took a little longer than anticipated but my scoring in the initial stages has improved dramatically. Finally saw that level 5 boss die today and that put a big ass smile on my face. Credit ended just before the first mid-boss in 1-6.

1-7 boss is just evil. And I thought the 1-6 boss was tough.

First day with DB, about 3 hours of practice. Great game, maybe my favorite shmup ever! Throwing dragons is addictive as all hell.

Be it ever so humble... Been busting my hump over Batrider so I thought I would take a break with my fav Psikyo. Had to go through a lot of stupid deaths before I got a decent run.

Taking a short break from Strikers, I had a few crappy runs then managed to pull off by far my best run in this game:

stuminator // 1,425,000 // Rob // 2-3

I don't know - it was on the board when I purchased it, and I never bothered to reset it. Kinda gives me something to shoot for someday.

That's a great score, especially considering you're using Rob. Congrats!

I played Dragon Blaze on a friend's cabinet today for the first time. Easily one of the greatest games I've ever played. This was my best run of the day:

Necronopticous // 618,900 // Quaid // 1-6

Who's supposed to be the best for scoring? The Necromancer dude?

I have to say DB's second round is twice as hard as 1999s.

Ian? He's really good as he's fast and can destroy objects fast, making it easier. However his bomb is balls, easily the worst in the game. Mind you cigs clearly doesn't mind.

The best overal character as one glance on the score board suggests is Quaid. Reason: screen clearing bomb. Otherwise his speed is right behind Ian and otherwise all other attacks are useful.

Ohh yeah, suicide bullets out the wazoo. Also Necro, nice first entry, you'll soon be knocking at the million point club. And amazing score stuminator, especially for Rob.

Oh, durr. For some reason I got Rob and Quaid mixed up. I was thinking "I thought the fire dragon was best for score? But if it's not him... It'd have to be Ian..."

Yes... Rob makes much more sense, no wonder everyone is impressed with his score. How can you even dodge those later stage boss patterns with that lack of speed? Way to go.

Don't want to learn the 2nd loop so probably not going to improve that.

First time to 1-7. Grabbed the tech bonus on 1-6 with the help of a bomb.

Getting close to the first loop clear.

It's excellent, from what PCB owners have said it plays exactly the same mate. I think the graphics are not quite as sharp on the port, but I have only read this and never actually noticed despite playing it a lot on mame before I bought the PS2 version. Also has a very useful practice mode too.

The Japanese version comes with Sol Divide, so make sure you get the UK one

Keep the scores coming! I'll get this updated by the end of May when classes are over and papers are graded.
