Strange Dreamcast RGB Problem with Capcom games

Post by CIT »

I have an NTSC-J Dreamcast and a European Dreamcast RGB cable (one with a little switch on it to switch between RBG and AV).

Yesterday I popped in a couple of games and here's what happened:

- Super Street Fighter II X and Vampire Chronicle:

The screen only showed the upper-left quarter of game in full screen. (In other words, the game was displayed 4-times larger than it shoud be)

- Giga Wing and SF Zero 3:

The DC was not able to boot the games at all.

Now, when I switched the cable to "AV" the games suddenly worked without a problem, but obviously I don't want to play them in AV. :?

Strangely, I only have this problem with some Capcom games, all other games work fine.

Can somebody tell me what the fuck is going on? Do some games just not support RGB!?

After doing some more reading, I guess this really is true for some Capcom games... :(

Is there any way to work around this bullshit?

How about if I buy a PAL Giga Wing, it will support RGB, right?

Well you could extract the ISO, apply the RGB patch, and burn it.
