A conversation with Skykid recently made me realise they often use TFTs in edit suites and other areas of TV production - and my wife works as an editor. about 6 months back, a production house she was working at closed down and the were selling everything off. She seems to think they were 26 inch TFTs for £100 - £200!

I of course wasn't aware at the time that she worked with TFTs! Gutted.

Anyway - if you know somebody in TV production, it might be the cheapest way to secure one.

Uhm, I am not sure if I understand the question correctly.
Let me explain a bit more: The screenshot was taken straight from an original Mushihimesama PCB. The 15kHz videosignal from the PCB feeds directly into the multisync TFT. The TFT will autodetect any signal (15-31kHz) and convert/scale it to full screen.
My cocktail tables are made for PCB-only gaming, there is no PC or emulation involved, I'm sorry.
Though, I have created a small JAMMA interface/supergun/MAK-PCB to allow for easier integration with my table creations (for color adjustment, testbutton and so on...).
Have a look at the picture, please -
you can see the Mushihimesama PCB in the background which is connected to my JAMMA-interface-PCB (in the front).

For Bobby the Bear,

What brand and model number is your industrial TFT monitor?

And what price did you pay for it?

Sounds like a really nice TFT LCD monitor that can do all kinds of display jobs. I like the little backlit LED push buttons...they give it a cool look when gaming. ^_~

Do you make the the custom cocktail tables to sell to others on a special order basis?

Thanks for your time...

PC Engine Fan X! ^_~
Hi PC Engine Fan X,

sorry for the late reply since I am not reading this forum on a regular basis.
The sticker on the unit says "Hantarex Germany, 19-inch Multisync Wide-Angle". I think the panel itself was made by AOU. I do not know who provided the A/D multisync converter inside. One of these units will set you back approx. 1.000 USD (tax included), no kidding.

Please understand that creating these tables is not my main occupation. So each table may take quite some time for me to finish. Nevertheless, I would like to listen to your ideas.
I suggest to discuss via email (see my website for details, please).

Thank you,

Bobby the Bear

What!!! That is a disgrade to ESP Ra De to have it running on some 13" VCR/TV combo right next to a must be 32" CRT.

You need to knock out the top part of that entertainment center and get your priorities straight.

Either that or setup a comfy futon in front of the TV and get some "ghetto tate" loving on :D

Ha ha I know its terrible. The main tv is actually larger (some 36-37" maybe) and HEAVY. Its also the main tv I have for watching television and movies and whatnot. The Samsung tv/vcr combo was free from my girlfriend and is the only thing I have that doesn't distort when on its side. I actually used it for Saturn, DC, and PS2 before I got the Supergun, so I just keep all my vertical shmupping goodness easy and accessible on that half of the entertainment center - it is however hard playing on such a small screen and sitting on the floor to boot.

Someday I would love a nice rgb monitor (NEC XM29 perhaps) but shipping would be killer and I know of nowwhere local in Colorado to find something.

I finally got round to taking a couple of pics of my setup...

First we have the MAME setup, this 19" dell trinitron is a dedicated tate. When it's not playing MAME, it's great for web browsing and everything really

Image

Next, the monitor on the left is a Viewsonic 21". I only tate it when I play PS2 shmups, since that is what my hori upscan converter is connected to ...

Image

Where's my joystick? Right there below the monitors, with all those keys :)

I couldn't live without by de-bugs. If anybody can get one, do what you can! My de-bug PS3 is multi-region for PS1, PS2 and PS3. No DVD player in there, but I'll live.

If you see one available, invest!

I think he is referring to DVD movie playback. My debug PS2 does not play DVD movies, but obviously plays games on DVD or CD, etc.

I hate you.... tell sony the public deserves those to. especially those who have paid rediculous out the door prices and had to do multiple drive swaps due to horrible quality on the fist couple of model versions on the PS1/2...

@thamasha69, nice setup, love the Sigma Raijin you got. There nothing i love more than a cabinet with a mess of console wire's and such. Very nice!

Thank you very much. I'm pretty proud of my setup - just need some more pcb's. I try and keep it organized as much as I can, but I like the chaos of having most consoles and such save for a PC Engine....which I hope to get someday.

That's right - my de-bug PS2 is the same. I never even tried a DVD in the de-bug 360, but I'm guessing that's the same

Strider - I love you, so it all balances out! And you're right - we all deserve access to them!

Jockel - it was work I'm afraid, but they do crop up on eBay when naughty people sell them.

De-bug PS2's certainly reach the collector market (there was one going on here recently), and they are multiregion PS1 and PS2.

Bump with what is, doubtless, the most amusingly pathetic setup in this thread:

Feel free to point, laugh, and ask questions.

Shit. I assumed that was a modchip job.

With EOJ's PS2 sold, this makes the second legit one I've missed out on within a scant few days...I'm trying very hard not to feel bitter. :x

For honorless,

That's a nice basic setup you've got there...if it works well for you, then more power to you. ^_~

Nice HRAP-2 you got there as well.

I'm guessing that you want a JPN region PS2 console really bad, right? Just keep your eyes peeled on the Trading section and another one will sooner or later appear for sale. Good luck on scoring one, honorless. ^_~

Nah, self-deprecation and placement aside this is the best setup I've ever had. :D
And I'm actually looking at a new TV, so it's getting better in the very near future. (Current one has terrible overscan on all sides, which I can't fix without cracking it open. The other half has forbidden this, naturally.)

I've seen some extremely low res projectors really cheap (about $150) here in Sweden (960 x 240 res). That would probably be better than full hd res for gaming, right?

Image

Has composit and sound inputs. Uses a standard 35W MR-16 12V lamp.
