Commodore 1084s cables?

Post by angrycoder »

So I bought myself a birthday present, this commodore 1084s:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 8768024407

Now comes the question of cables...

I am assuming from what I've read that this is the pinout for RGB going into the 1084s monitor, a standard DB9

http://www.gamesx.com/misctech/mypin.htm

Is this the correct pinout for the 1084?

Now, if I have a European SCART cable for the PS2, I would just need to take that cable apart and match up the pinouts from the DB9 connector above?

I found a european scart pinout here:
http://utopia.knoware.nl/users/eprebel/ ... SCART.html

But it doesn't look like everything would match up properly. For example, the +5v and the sync. What mappings do I need to use to make this work?

I also have a japanese RGB cable for the PS2 if it would be easier to modify that (the kind you use with the X2RGB), but i would prefer to use the SCART if at all possible.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Nope. The correct one is:

thanks, which pinout do I want on that diagram? The analog one or the digital one?

Any pointers on how that maps to the scart cable?

You want the analog set. The digital mode on that monitor is only used for doing some weird stuff (like hooking it up to a C128 running in 80 column mode IIRC).

As for mapping the pins, just hook RGB, sync and ground to the corresponding SCART pins.

It's pretty straightforward:

scart.................1084

any "return".....1 (or 2)
7.......................5
11.....................4
15.....................3
20.....................7

thanks for the help, i'll let you know how it turns out.

For the audio? I am assuming I can just cut a normal RCA cable and there will be a ground and audio wire in each one?
