Sharp NES TV Flyback advice Needed

Post by Hoagtech »

I have the Sharp 19SV111. It has a problem at startup where the whole screen turns blurry and then sharpens itself after one minute.

I recapped the whole thing (94 caps) and this did not solve the issue. I suspect its due to my flyback. Other than this minor annoyance. It looks beautiful over composite RCA after the recap but I'm worried the flyback will fail.

My question is where can I find a flyback for the 19SV111? It has this marking on the flyback, but is there a substitute I could use like an aftermarket one or an old Sharp brand Flyback from a similar era?

How do you identify a generic flybacks compatibility? Is it by its pin spacing or size. Is there a measurement or metric that makes a flyback compatible?

Final question is I was told by TV repairman that flybacks actually can be repaired through Corona Doping the core?

Does someone have a guide or resource? I like the idea of repairing my og component

Here's after recap. It looks beautiful and I would hate see my progress go to waste.

Hi
There’s a possibility this could be caused by the focus spark gap which is inside the crt socket in the crt socket board. You can gently take the cover off, use isopropyl cleaner and clean the gap and housing. This will eliminate possible tracking across between the two electrodes in the spark gap.
Check all solder connections on the flyback and on the crt socket board.
If it is still the same you have an issue inside the flyback where by the internal resistor potential divider to create the focus and G2 voltages is changing on set start up. There’s nothing you can do about this apart from live with it or search for a new or good used flyback.
The least likely cause is a CRT issue
