Two-player vertical shmup games with minimal menu interaction

Post by edwardsjethro »

Are there any modern two player vertical Shumps games that would be suitable in an arcade cabinet? What I mean is, most games I’ve seen will have start buttons also double as a menu button. Other things such as a menu coming up at the start of game to change settings. I’m looking for a game that would act as an arcade game where it’s in attract mode when not being played and start buttons start the game and you play that’s it. No save banks. Im looking for a game where the settings menu, if any, would have its own button separate from the game controls, mapped to whatever keyboard key it is.

I always thought all the great TATE shmups, would be excellent ported to standard 16:9 and made 2p. Effectively giving each ship in 2p co-op, the same chance at real estate as single player in Tate mode.
