What the hell is wrong with this place?

A place where you can chat about anything that isn't to do with games!

What the hell is wrong with this place?

In terms of performance? I know some people were talking about it a ways back, but I missed it.
I thought it would have been cleared up by now. Somebody had to buy the cheapest servers possible?

Perhaps we can have a fundraiser or something.

Maybe the site just hates VPNs?

I have to use one all the time so YouTube stops showing me ads.
However, it doesn't really mess up most other sites.

And yeah, I do remember Geocities and Tripod. And with a dial up connection. :x

EDIT: After turning it off, it seems to be working much better.

For a week or so the server would be slow as molasses, taking literally 5 minutes to load at time, failing to load graphics at times, etc. It wasn't the server's fault though.

As per system11: viewtopic.php?p=1542510#p1542510
Blame the Alibaba cloud - absolutely hammering the server with requests from multiple IPs, I can't tell if it's malicious or some kind of unintendedly stupid web crawling, so I've had to just firewall it off completely and contact their abuse team.
Since he's had to firewall certain IPs to stop them from DDOSing the server, it's possible VPNs will not function well either.
