Yeah, the Steelers will win it all. And we Browns fans will no longer be able to say: "Well, at least the Steelers choked once again in the playoffs."

I don't keep up with football much at all, but offhand I'll probably root for the Seahawks (though I almost certainly won't even watch the game, I'll just read about it in the next day's paper). The Steelers, at least as far as I know, are apparently a relatively consistently "good team," while the Seahawks haven't done much of anything since heaven knows when; I always like to root for the underdog, the new guy, the one who you don't see jerseys for on every other kid you walk past. For no other reason than the biting comments I've seen aimed at them for quite some time, I was rooting for the ("Bungling") Bengals until they were busted...at this point, Seattle seems like the one to take their place.

Of course, I think that pro athletes are sinfully overpaid for what they do, and not held accountable for their actions nearly often enough, but methinks I at least have the right to hate some less than others. :P

I don't know a damn thing about tackleball but it has definitely been fun experiencing all this playoff/superbowl madness here in Seatown. I haven't felt this vibe since I lived in western PA in the 70s and it was all Steelermania. I can't recall the last time I gave a fuck about the superbowl but this time we have my hometown vs my old timey "favorite team" so I'll definitely watch. I'm actually pretty excited. Almost half as excited as I am for UFC 57 on super saturday. Maybe like 41% or so.

Damn, a Seattle sports team gets to the championship a mere few months after I leave. But I'm elated. Never in my 21 years of living the US (mostly Seattle, which was home) did I ever thought a Seattle team would get this far in anything. And even though I now consider myself a San Diegan (because I love this city much better than Seattle), I wish I could be in Seattle just to experience the Super Bowl high. Breathe it all in for me, Pa, please.

Oh yeah, I'm a fair weather fan so when the Seahawks start to suck again, I'll be chanting "GO!!! SUCKHAWKS!!!!!!" But for now, it's "GO!!! SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I'm proud...

A level 3 Porcine Aviation Warning is now in effect for the Seattle metro area, effective through February 5th. In other news, an unexpected cold front is currently moving across the River Styx, with freezing temperatures expected through at least the Fifth Circle.

No, I never thought I'd see the day either. Granted, the Sonics did make the NBA finals once in the Nineties, but pretty much ended up being cannon fodder for the Jordan Dynasty Bulls. And at this rate, I don't see the Mariners going anywhere anytime in the forseeable future, at least not with the current ownership...

The Sonics in the NBA Finals? Was that in 1996? If so, it figures...I was in basic training. Maybe I'm the "Seattle Curse." GO COFFEE DRINKERS!!!!!!

Both AFC and NFC predictions were shot for me when the Colts and Panthers went down, but you gotta feel for both teams, Seahawks taking 22 years to win another playoff game, and making the Superbowl, and the Steelers having their first shot at glory since the days of the Steel Curtain.

Second chance, I believe. They went to one Super Bowl under Bill Cowher and lost. Did they lose to Dallas? Can't recall atm. They've been to the Playoffs nearly every year that Cowher has been head coach.

Yes they did, yes they lost.

O'donell threw that game, 3 interceptions in that game. Two of them were to the same opposing player with NO OTHER PLAYERS within a 20 yard radius of the ball, and on both of those interceptions they scored on the ensuing drive. O'donell wasn't at Pittsburgh too much longer. Piece of garbage :x

They just about coughed up the Colts game this time around too (ironic that a tackle made by the quarterback, of all people, ends up saving the game for them.) That said, I do enjoy seeing the Colts lose for some reason...

:x I hate the Steelers, but that's a given since I bleed orange and black (Bengals) and they assassinated Carson Palmer's knee during the wild card game the Bengals would have won otherwise. Plus their obnoxious fans seem to be in large doses around my city.

To be honest, I'm not really a big football fan myself (I come from a household where the opening day of Baseball season is practically considered a holiday) but I do try to at least follow what's going on.

As much as I hate to admit it-- because the Steelers are the enemy-- they have exactly the sort of team I want Cleveland to have. A fast, powerful, complex defense that can stop the run. A running game with speed and power that can't be stopped. Playmakers and personalities on both sides of the ball. Damn.

I hope it is a good game and not a blowout either way. I always hate those kind of superbowls where it is over before halftime. If I lived somewhere else and didn't like either team, I would probablly root for the Seahawks as I usually root for the underdog or team that never won before in most superbowls.

Sure, I am from the steel city and have waited for another win in the big game for about 25 years so you know where I am on this issue. But, you got to love what the Seahawks have done this year, they are a very talented team, and we have a big challenge ahead. They really shutdown the Panthers in a hurry. To anyone from Seattle, enjoy it, this is what it is all about. And congrats on finally making to the the big game, good luck!

Yeah man, as near as I can tell Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka plays defense for both the Steelers and the Seahawks and is always ready to intercept an errant pass.

This is today.

I've decided that since I've lived here for nine years that I'll be rooting for the Seahawks.

I think we're jinxed though. There's this fella I know and his whole MO is to lie, cheat, steal and bully his way to financial "success". Anyway, his favorite thing in THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD is the Seahawks. Well, he's gone to Detroit to watch the game in person. He's gonna fuck this up for everyone in Seattle with his negativity. However, his foul attitude gets him in all kinds of fights here in Seattle. I can hope he got in one in Detroit and was either beaten all the way to the hospital or was arrested and can't get out in time for the game.

GO SEAHAWKS!!!

Anyhow, this won't be anywhere near as awesome as UFC 57 was. Liddell literally beat Randy Couture into retirement, both Gracie Barra athletes won in decisive fashion (GO TEAM!) and local boy Jeff Monson won with an incredibly nasty choke that I have never seen applied in an MMA fight before. Also, Dana White did not say one word which was an unexpected bonus.

Go Seahawks!

Does anyone else think that this is the lamest Super Bowl in some time. I mean, neither of these teams are great. The Steelers are very good right now, but great? No. Blah.

Apparently these teams are "great" enough to have beaten the teams that you'd consider "great". I mean, who's in the Superbowl this year? Partypooper.

Hell just out of curiousity I'll watch the game.
It's live on tv here (on a pulp network though) during the night and if I don't fall asleep I'll see who wins.

I go for the underdog and cheer for the Seahawks though! ;)

I'm surprised the OMG Football/Soccer/American Football debate hasn't begun. I thought there were people other than Americans here? ;)

I'll be alone in the dorm doing a few weeks worth of history homework while my pals watch the game and get drunk. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Don't sweat it, it's a boring game and the Seahawks are getting ripped off wholesale by the refs. After Rothlisberger's six point earning nontouchdown, I walked away. I just heard the Rolling Dumbutts finish sucking ass for the evening and it sounds like we have a game again.

If I don't see more action I will once again renounce football. It's been a fun month or so, but this really isn't my sport. Team sports in general can bite me.

So there.

Now that it's over I can safely say that it was the Steelers playing well and the Seahawks choking that caused the Steelers to win. I still think some of the calls in the first half stank, but that doesn't offset the domination layed down by the Steelers. The second half was more interesting than the first as far as football action goes but meh... It was still boring. Because it's football.

Yeah, seahawks got robbed a bit the first half, and played a strong game throughout (though you could feel the sheer panick at the end), but the stealers played very strongly the second half. Either way it was a damn close game and actually one of the best superbowls I've seen. So often, the superbowls are way too onesided to be interesting.

Not being a genuine football fan, I wouldn't have felt credible saying it that way. Thanks for saying what I wanted to.
