Goddammit, I saw this thread bumped up and looked to see if there had been any action on the Game Tengoku/Radirgy front. I didn't pick up a Switch until after the first preorders closed (there but for the grace go I) but I'm really rooting for y'all who are stuck in this mess to get some sort of closure out of it, one day.

Nah, that would be too neat.

To be honest I am almost glad this happened and I lost money, I hope this happens to every sick-grab plastic collector now. The ultimate irony is that Radirgy Swag ended up being mid as FUCK (as the kids say), if that* and not worth the $30 I pre-ordered it for.

*it's actually worse than mid

So wait, if I buy Swag digitally(which I'll do eventually on general principle, I guess), does that mean this clown is getting paid from it?

Well, the publisher is still listed as Dispatch Games, doubtful any sales from it goes anywhere, considering how badly this company's going lately. (Even if it probably no longer exists at all.) If anything, it would have been nice if sales just go straight to the developer, but I would assume both pub/dev take a share on it or something.

Nintendo takes their cut, then the rest it goes to pub/dev on a predetermined split. Since Dispatch had like one game under their belt at the time, I seriously doubt that any 'hardball' was played, and they were probably just happy to get the gig. Therefore, I think it's safe to say that majority goes to RS34 (for Radirgy) and City Connection (Game Paradise)

Good morning everyone, I am more of a twitter user but I figured I should inform you all of what I've found.

To keep a long story short, Radirgy Swag has been delisted in the past two weeks.

In mid April, one to two weeks ago, (Likely April 14th judging by twitter posts) Radirgy Swag was delisted on the USA E-Shop, in the following day all territories had the game delisted besides the original Japanese version.
Any version published by Dispatch was taken down.
I wondered if the entire company just went bust, but no, they still have some games up on the e-shop, most were delisted in 2020 and 2021 it seems.

Past this point will be pure speculation.

So, this seems to be a license issue, RS34 opted not to renew the license or Dispatch themselves didn't.
My evidence for this is anecdotal, but I feel it is backed up by timelines and the fact that it got delisted.

The English version was announced in late June of 2019, being headed by Dispatch Games as this Gematsu article says
Now licenses aren't granted instantly, and at that point Dispatch was a somewhat niche publisher of indie titles, and most likely approached RS34 for a license.
With the announcement being in June, likely when all the paperwork cleared. The original license agreement was likely penned weeks beforehand, perhaps mid April?

As for license length, if it was four years, that would bring us to April 2023, the month the game has been delisted.
Of course, if this is true, then the odds of it now shipping out is likely less than zero. There could be legal issues with them selling/sending it to people at this point.

In any case, if my speculation about the licensing is correct:

Dispatch Games took so long to ship physical copies of Radirgy Swag, that the license expired before a single one made it to a customer.

I just know there's gonna be a Metal Jesus Rocks video in like 2030 where a box of these carts is found and they all go up on Ebay for $1,000 each.

Yeah, and the seller will be the former owner of Dispatch Games...

Although, now the weird delay of the US version of Illmatic Envelope Swamp makes sense. They were waiting to see if Dispatch was going to get it's act together before the license ran out. I would now bet the physical release of Illmatic will also include Swag just like the JP release.

I gave up and bought the JP release ages ago, but I'd probably double-dip for the translation. ANY chance to just know wtf is going on.

I'm curious if Dispatch Scammer Guy is going to continue acting like he's going to ship those games, or if he'll drop the mask now that the license has expired.

Shame, I never got around to buying Swag, but it just seemed too overpriced, and I heard it wasn't even that good.

Swag isn't for everyone, to say the least. It's 100% twitch, and about as far from a memorizer/micrododger as one can get while even remaining in the same genre. While that last sentence is a sweet-spot for me, personally, and therefore, I had A LOT of fun with it (still occasionally do). Plus, I was overjoyed to finally have a shooter on the Switch that was actually playable on the bus (y'know, what you're supposed to be doing with a Switch). But. if someone says they hate it, it's not like I'm going to argue the point.

And really, at this stage of my existence, I MUCH rather play something original and unexpected--even if that means it may be flawed or alienating--than play something that gives everyone exactly what they want. I have no interest in getting exactly what I want, anymore. I find getting something I didn't know I wanted, MUCH more interesting.

I'm in a similar boat. I tried to enjoy it but the concept isn't for me. I couldn't feel I was making any progress with the game or my skills and ended up dropping it for a more straightforward shmupping experience.

Just switch to "make his scam ultimate" and "his bilking life," and you've got the makings of a nice video edit.

Mobile version comes out next week, and there's a trailer out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSM3lgks91Y

Looks pretty cute - like a 16-bit demake of the original game with solid art.

Oh, specifically the 2007 mobile version is coming out on Switch. I didn't realize that until I clicked the link. This looks like one of those things that I'm not into, but I hope there are others out there who are. I love seeing all these unknown ports popping out of nowhere. I did have a JAVA DoCoMo flip phone back in 2008 (one of the coolest feeling handsets I've ever owned, I kept it for years after it went out of service just because) but I didn't know enough about the arcade STG scene at the time for these titles to have been on my radar. By that point even in Japanese game centres shooters were relatively uncommon, it was only one or two hardcore downtown ones that had contemporary Cave stuff that I remember.

We are in the process of working with the distribution and logistics teams to solidify the following dates:

Game Paradise and Radirgy Swag Standard shipping on 8/14/23. Rail Sim Standard is currently planned for 8/31/23.

The Limited Editions will ship after the standards.
... They haven't publicly addressed the delisting of swag at all afaik - I'm not gonna hold my breath here.

I just went through that thread and holy crap that was indeed a legendary ass beating! It sucks to see how many people were ripped off though.

Hopefully everyone caught up in this mess for Cruisin gets something back.

How are you going to ship a product you've lost the rights to?!?

Hahahaha, and they disallow replies. What a massive scam.
