Hey Guys,
Just got a retrotink 5x and was kind of surprised it had no audio output. So i'm trying to figure out the best way at this point to hook things up with my specific setup.
I have a Benq HT2050a projector it will be going to, and I use a Z906 surround sound system.
Unfortunately the Z906 doesn't have an HDMI arc input on the receiver, it's a nice system, but can only expect so much for the money. It has plenty of audio inputs though (optical, coax, 3.5, etc) So I would need to use an audio extractor to split the audio from the HDMI coming from the 5x.
The Benq only has a 3.5 audio out and it's awful to use.
1-Would an audio extractor be compatible with the retrotink 5x? Or could it introduce issues?
2-If so, I am looking for a really solid and well made unit, I usually don't like introducing more links to the chain so to speak. The ones on amazon all look like cheap crap and are $25. Crutchfield has one for $140, but no idea the quality.
3-Is there another way to sort this out I am just not thinking of?
Thank you so much,
Retrotink 5X Audio out?

Re: Retrotink 5X Audio out?
Yeah you can use an audio extractor without issues. Most have both a digital (optical or coax, or both) and analogue (3.5mm) audio outputs. And any cheap one will be fine.
Alternatively, you can reroute the original analogue audio from your consoles and use that instead of the digitized audio from the 5X. This should be easy with all kinds of cables except SCART.

Thanks! Sadly all I use is scart with my Gscart setup. So I think I will have to try an extractor.fernan1234 wrote:Yeah you can use an audio extractor without issues. Most have both a digital (optical or coax, or both) and analogue (3.5mm) audio outputs. And any cheap one will be fine.

Just wanted to be sure it would play nice with the 5x. And the cheaper ones had me a bit worried. But at $140 for the next tier up, that almost seemed like TOO much money for what it does.
