I find it particularly hilarious in FixEight's archetypal run/gun context - from an icy, yet innately pacifistic warning to a beaten foe, to some lunatic mowing down all in sight, trampling their smoking remains and hollering "MAKE MAH DAYEEEEEE!" Our hero's request for violent satisfaction strictly rhetorical, guaranteed the moment his alarm clock went off that 0200hrs. It's like a microcosm of First Blood's thoughtful drama birthing an entire pop-cultural ecosystem of foot-to-floor ultraviolence.Lander wrote:Heck, the X-my-Y line structure is so eminently tweakable and reusable that it took me several relistens to perceive Make My Day amidst that arcadetastic audio compression, rather than Say My Name, Taste My Gains, or It's My Game almost all perfectly good lines in service of Action Tough!BIL wrote:One of many lines so iconic, even if wasn't meant as a reference, 90% of the audience will interpret it as one. Yes, I know everyone thinks the graphics are a bit dull-looking for a modern shmup like this, but other than that, it's still an all-around solid shmup, and a blast to play.dmk1198 wrote:Just ordered on switch

Personally I wouldn't call the aesthetic dull; the color palette pops, and there's plenty of distinctive designs to be had.
It's just rendered in a way that results in tons of pixel jag and scaling artifacts; the tragedy isn't in bad art, but rather in the bad presentation of good art.
For example, check out these nifty high-res versions of the player ships:
They're rather nice, but there's no way to get around the filters and actually see them like this in-game. I had to go digging through SteamDB for emoticon assets instead

I wonder if the Neo Classic Arcade series is dead? Haven't been any news in a while and Hideki Kamiya who was passionate about Sol Cresta, is leaving Platinum Games. He joked about joining Hamster: https://www.theverge.com/2023/10/12/239 ... ng-youtube.
Re: Platinum Games announces Sol Cresta, Sequel to Terra Cresta
I hope not, because PlaitnumGames already announced several other titles in the series...

2 of the ships are good, 1 is a joke inclusion. The Dramatic DLC is an annoyance on a Raiden 5 level.
