Man, I can reach the last boss on Ace consistently but always die by his first or second form. One of these days...I refuse be the only on the thread who hasn't cleared the first loop.
I've been neglecting Blade far too long.

I have to disagree, he's in every version for starters and he doesn't have to be unlocked through an arduous process like Marion, so it's the same as using him in GB2. As far as his machoness goes, he has his strengths and weakness like all the other characters minus Marion (who has none) so using him is a personal taste thing.Anarchos wrote:And btw, Ayin is as much cheating as Marion since he also is a secret character and better than the rest of the guys.

Well, finaly broke the 400000 barrier:
407000 - Shatterhand - 1-4 - Ayin - Saturn
There's any easy way to choose Ayin? I always choose random anyway (Still didn't find what character is the best for me...), and I got him twice.
It's fun to play with him, you barely need to hold the button to send his charge attack, but as you have to be close to the enemy to hit it, it lends to lots of exciting point-blank attack moments.
And I am still winning the challenge!

Amazingly, this puts me in at the Numero Dos spot for Blade.
503,600 - alpha5099 - 1-5 - Ayin - Saturn
For some reason, I always get to 1-5 with no lives left. Usually I get killed by one of the two big enemies at the start, the bomber carrier or the guy who follows. The farthest I had gotten before was to the first hand. This time, miraculously, I survived all the way to the fifth boss. And died on the very first bullet he shot. Oh well, progress is progress.
I say this every other day, but I really should play this more often. I think I've got a pretty good handle on the randomized first three stages, I know the choke points where I need to use Ayin's boss-killing bomb, if I could just practice I could get farther in the later stages. Especially now that I'm trying to control rank by powering down.

Re-claiming my #2 spot!
Sengoku Blade
582,000 - Ghegs - 1-6 - Tengai - PS2
Reached the 1-5 boss for the first time (on my last life), managed to hang on through his first form and spent a bomb on his second one. Got a fairly good look at 1-6 before I got caught in a corner.

"What the hell kind of a two-bit operation are they running out of this treehouse, Cooper? I have seen some slip-shod, backwater burgs, but this place takes the cake."
