As per their X post, it looks like they’re doing a “collaboration stage announcement”,

Looks like the next game is all but official.

I’m excited.

I'll be over here pulling for announcements of TAG Vol. 4 (Tatsujin and Tatsujin Oh) AND Vol. 5 (Outzone and Fixeight). Guess we'll see in a matter of hours :)

Seems the stream will focus entirely on DOJ. If any new announcements are made, I wager it'll be at the tail end of the stream with nothing additional to show for it.

In the DOJ stream (at about 2:00:00 in), they did mention that there seems to be some sort of TGS booth presentation at Tatsujin's booth, on 9/23 from 11:00-12:30 (JST). Perhaps they'll say something there? I'm not sure if the "reference exhibition" titles at the booth mean anything related to Toaplan Arcade Garage announcements...

Outzone is coming. Praise be.

Of all Toaplan's games, this is the one I've been most excited about since the Arcade Garage was announced. I'd happily pay those ShotTriggers prices for Outzone alone with a couple of bells and whistles, but this is likely looking to be the bundled game in the Tatsujin package, as somebody predicted above. Still, fine by me.

Just speculation but if it turns out that the next Arcade Garage volume has Tatsujin Oh + Outzone but doesn’t include the first Tatsujin then I wonder if Tatsujin extreme will include the original Tatsujin/Truxton as a bonus. Would of course be preferable to have both Tatsujin games as a double pack + Outzone as well. In any case, I’m really looking forward to Tatsujin Oh getting the ShotTriggers treatment such as easy mode as I’ve been playing it on and off the past year on my Astro City Mini V and while it’s a beautiful game with an incredible soundtrack, the difficulty is brutal and could use some more balance. Exciting time to be a Toaplan fan. :D

So the remaining Arcade Garage Volumes coud Look like this:

Vol. 4 Tatsujin/Outzone
Vol. 5 Vimana/Daisenpuu/Fixeight
Vol. 6 Slapfight/V-V
Vol. 7 Dogyuun/Batsugun

Plus some Bonus games.

Or maybe they stretch it to 8 Volumes in total.
Cant wait to hear whats coming next. Do you think tomorrow we will know?

It would be pretty dumb if they decide to publish tatsujin oh without the first one.

Yeah, I don’t think they’re going to announce something new until DDP is out.
Teasing it like this is reasonable marketing.

Looks like that’s the case, no official announcement. But by displaying Tatsujin Oh and Outzone at Tatsujin’s booth, with the ShotTriggers logo right there and the demo stations using Switch pro controllers, they seem to be intentionally hinting that these games are coming. Good approach to ease people’s (warranted) concerns about Toaplan Arcade Garage’s future due to all things Embracer, Bitwave, etc.

I’m viewing this as M2 telling me “hey this is just an exhibition, we aren’t announcing anything - wink, wink”… but showing those games sure feels like an unofficial confirmation. I’m now expecting that the next two TAG collections will feature Outzone (likely to be paired with Fixeight) and Tatsujin (prob both Tatsujin games) in some order.

The M2 ShotTriggers dude at Tokyo Game Show said that the next Toaplan collection is not Tatsujin Ou + Out Zone. They haven't decided yet. They just put those out for people to play. They are still working on what to put out next. I asked about the stereo soundtrack in Tatsujin Ou and he said that they are trying to emulate (yes, he specifically said emulate, not port) the PCBs as accurately as possible, and because of the way the data containing the stereo soundtrack isn't normally accessible during normal operation of the PCB, they'd have to do some difficult work to get that working correctly, but there is a chance that it might show up. I also asked about having an option in the menu to reset the PCB every time the player gets a game over so we don't have to manually reset the PCB to fix the item table, and he said that that wasn't something that was currently planned, but that they will look into all sorts of convenience features prior to release.

I also told him about the missing PCB autofire on PS4 Horror Story and showed him that it's mislabeled on Switch as 15Hz (it totally isn't 15Hz. It's more like 7~8Hz), and he said he'd pass this on to the rest of the M2 ShotTriggers team. Yes, there is a team, apparently, and they were not all there today because they are busy working on Daioujou, and yes, they are working on a Sunday. No rest for M2 ShotTriggers devs, and I salute them and their hard work. Be grateful and buy that shit when it releases!

Many thanks for your endeavours! I wonder if my dream of Vol.4: Vimana + Daisenpu isn't quite out of the picture... only half-joking on that, as always.

I don't know why, but based on nothing whatsoever, I have a gut feeling that TAG 4 will be Slap Fight & VV.

Yone2008 is a genius, and this could go in any number of VGM threads. It feels most apropos here though, given the absolutely storming VRC6 arrangement of "Break A Leg!" from Kyuukyoku Tiger Image Image Image
