That doesn't give a whole lot of detail, particularly, I'd still have to wait until a more definitive statement is made.
Can't imagine they would say this then randomly delay 2/3 of the games.
It's certainly happened before with other collections like this, including the Capcom Arcade Cabinet. They released them spaced out between February and May of 2013. Game Room for Xbox 360 also did this, and can't think of other specific examples at the moment.
I wouldn't be too pessimistic about input lag and emulation before it's even released, especially since the Beat em Up collection plays great. I like that 1943 is free not so much because I want 1943, but it gives a chance to test out a game and see the screen filters, input lag, autofire setup, controller remapping and so on ahead of spending cash. Had I gotten the chance to check out SNK 40th ahead of time I could've saved myself some bucks. I think this will be solid though.
That is true, at least one game being free gives some room for testing, but I likely still won't buy it, as I tend to only buy stuff on Switch if it's on sale or truly exclusive (which rarely ever happens.)

1.0 was indeed not great, but it did get patched over time and got to a point where I'd say it's on par with the other mini consoles out there. Not 100% perfect, but playable to a point where a 1CC is completely viable on any of the shmups. In that, I am hopeful that's the starting point for this collection.
I've played a lot of GnG over the years, and there's nothing 'off' about the CAC emulation. Not played any of the other titles nearly enough to comment, but that's definitely spot on. The belt-scrolling collection was damn fine as well, so day 1 for me.

They specifically state Ghosts n Goblins will be a free bonus for people who order all three packs, so it would seem very counterintuitive to not make that possible until months after the launch.

I have no knowledge one way or the other, but the most video game industry thing possible would be to stagger game pack releases to ensure they each get their own media exposure bump, but sell them as a season pass up front and give GnG away with that.

They will be released only in random loot boxes purchased with imaginary Capcom coins that cost real money and have unlockable wallpapers 3.99 each. Best of luck getting the games you want and not getting 10 copies of Pirate Ship Higemaru. :P

Seriously though if they do stagger them they'll probably sell more of the early packs than they would have, but it could also kill the hype if they release the first pack alone.

Stuff gets buried on the Switch eshop super fast and it's not easy to browse through older stuff if you don't know what you're looking for. On one hand though you get some good sales bc they have to use the sales to get games to show up in a way that people will see when they are just browsing the shop.

That looks good. It is hard to tell if it will be per game or one bunch of slots for the whole thing. But at least there are multiple save states and not just one per game.

How has Capcom omitted Three Wonders?

Chariot and Midnight Wanderers are among their best platformers and shmups.

Dunno if it counts for anything but the Ghosts 'n Goblins thing comes out on the 25th, and it's being advertised alongside Arcade Stadium. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://store-jp.nintendo.com/list/soft ... 22556.html

I checked the US eshop yesterday and it also lists Feb 25th as the date for the G&G thing. Probably a good bet, at this point.

Yeah, well, if it's not out by Feb. 25 that doesn't leave much of a window for February.

Too bad that Capcom's (alongside with Takumi's collaboration) Mars Matrix CPS2 port isn't included in this Switch compliation. It'd be ace if it was.

"You can also try out weekly Special Challenges, with new and exciting parameters like completing a Score Challenge on the highest game speed, or playing a game upside-down.
Note: These features are unlocked when you purchase the additional DLC."

For.
Fucks.
Sake.

This is from the official website. Dude no one on the planet wants to play a game upside down. Let alone pay extra for the privilege.

I'm actually getting pretty hyped for this collection just due to the sheer quantity of amazing games on it. They just seem a little out of touch on the features they should include. Does anyone care about those weird cabinet views where the screen is all tilted back and shrunken? How does that come anywhere near reproducing what it's like to play on a cab? If you want to remind people what the cabs look like you could just have some pics in a gallery which would be way less of a waste of resources. Replay saving/uploading would have been a more desirable feature.

I did notice that on a shot of the option menu it say Display Filter: Type E. So we know there will be at least 5 screen filters. That sounds pretty promising. Out of 5 or more options there should be something that looks pretty decent.

Lol. It's a Switch game. Just put it on the table upside down. What a dumb "challenge".

available now

but it's all screwy? when I select Progear it asks me to go to the eshop to download it as DLC and then it shows up as ghosts 'n goblins. same with the other titles (I've only tried two).

edit: ahh the individual titles haven't been released as DLC yet. only the bundles.

am I flaking here or is the framerate not stable? Just decided to grab the two freebies and try them out and it feels like it occasionally gets a bit choppy. I thought maybe it was just the silly 3D cab view, but when I put it to 2D view it still seemed to happen, though maybe not as much

also there does not appear to be any custom zoom options on the 2D screen options if you want to maximize the display size without mucking the aspect ratio

Is there any mention of those games being available individually?

I guess not but they show up as individual DLC addons in the eshop search. I bought the pack regardless because I wanted nearly all the games

You can add individual games to your wish list, so they may be sold separately later on.
