Thanks! I may not be making the most out of the guide but I am learning, slightly.

Stage 1: 50 million multiplier
Stage 3: 100 million

Eagle
EmperorIng - 284,5723,0435,38471990 - Stage 5
Spoiler

Slight improvement, but I'm still dying at the same place :oops: I have no bombs by the time this boss comes.

EDIT: Ah! I just checked my previous score, and I still have the same multiplier??? I guess I haven't done as well as I thought. :(
I guess I am just fighting for survival on stage 4/5, and I am not getting as much medals as I should. It really ought to be higher by the (pre)final boss...

That's more like it! Still so frustrating, I almost killed this damn boss! Gah...

Was watching more of Pearl's Robin run to get a few ideas, as well as Rob's old Stage 2 video.

Stage 1: 44 million
Stage 2: 80 mill
Stage 3: 112m
Stage 4: 192m

I chickened out on the stage 4 and 5 bosses and killed them quickly. I know I lost a lot of score when I should have been reflecting more.

Updated!
And a new challenge to you:
Third_strike - 1150,4137,0138,23057190 - ALL - Eagle

Edit:
Third_strike - 2192,8810,6854,51702350 - ALL - ALL - Robin
Lost one life in stage 3 boss, but I don't think it affected the final result too much.

20 quintillion, excellent job. Congratulations!
You're making it too hard for me to catch up, however. :oops:

Baby steps! I finally cleared. The last few stages were bad, so I have a lot to learn.

s1 = 50m
s2 = 100m
s3 = 130m
s4 = 200? can't remember.

You did it, next step get one more digit.

Third_strike - 2358,0635,7007,53261670 - ALL - Robin

I didn't get the fountain in stage 1, lost a life in the beginning of stage 3, panic bombed at very end of the stage 5 boss and got double KO stage 6 boss. :lol:

Edit:
Third_strike - 2639,1745,3232,67773710 - ALL - Robin
If you want a sense of multiplier progression:

Stage 1 110
Stage 2 198
Stage 3 ???
Stage 4 456
Stage 5 665
Stage 6 668

I don't know how to do much more than that right now. Stage 6 could have been better (686Mi multiplier), but I don't know how much that would give me. I even lost a life in stage 6 again. Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 were better than my standards. I'm still not good enough at stage 4. I couldn't beat that score easily.

Edit:
Third_strike - 2758,6613,0150,74685600 - ALL - Robin

Lost lives in very end of stage 2 boss and last stage again :lol:

Wow, incredible progress! I can't believe you pulled that off even with a death in stage 2. Do you think you will get to 30 quintillion?

I think I can if I improve my strategies in stage 4 and enter stage 5 fearless.

This was over 700Mi :?
I need to do more calculations

Edit:

Third_strike - 2932,8502,6729,00725630 - ALL - Robin

Did this try with Hawk and it was better than I expected. The problem is beat last boss in time

Third_strike - 2434,6934,9069,82785260 - ALL - Hawk

Third_strike - 3066,0585,4418,66028900- ALL - Robin

The 30Qui dream finally achieved! I can only remember when I started playing this game at the end of May. After three weeks of being completely lost, losing nearly 20 lives per credit trying to find something and with great difficulties to control and locate my ship on the screen, I started to question whether I really thought this could result in anything. I can only say thank you to everyone who helped me!

Amazing achievement third_strike! My only hope is that you can get close to that during your shmup slam demonstration in a few weeks. What a monumental score!

It's been crazy to see you improve so much and so fast at this game! These scores are something to be proud of.

Now this score is not something I'm proud of :oops: Stupid death in stage 3 killed the multiplier, and again in stage 4 during the midboss (It is so dumb that the reflect meter hides your ship... it wasn't like this in GW2!). But I am trying to learn how to play better.

I managed to finally get 100m multiplier in stage 1, but just once (and not this run), but I average 90s in stage 1 now, which I think is a good pace for better scores. I tried the other day with Eagle for fun and got around 85m in stage 1, which I was pretty happy with. I would like to get a better score there too but it's hard to go back to such a slow ship.

I thought I was doing pretty well for the first time I made it to Stage 4, no deaths then the face boss of Stage 4 went all Psikyo bullets on me and sniped me down repeatedly. Even though I didn't die with bombs remaining, I had to use all my stocks to get to Stage 5 then died almost immediately because I had no clue what I was doing. Grouse is rather iffy compared to Widerstand it feels like, those balls don't go as high up the screen and you're relatively slow. ;w;

Also I think there's a typo, EmperorIng's Eagle score should be an ALL clear, not Stage 4? :)

edit:

Uh, I somehow got the 1cc? First time fighting the final boss, went in with 1L2B, died with 2 bombs in stock, limped my way through, faced down the TLB with 1 bomb remaining, expected to get snipered any time... and somehow I got the clear? >w> I wish I had my recording setup, I was not expecting a 1cc!

Now that I've taken the time to play this, it's much easier than I expected! It's more daunting than GW1 is as the early stages are more intense and aren't pushovers, but a lot of the super scary attacks later on can actually just be tap dodged until your reflect recharges.

Eagle is by far the easiest for survival, its homing missiles are crazy good (especially compared to Isha in the first game). Hawk is OK, it's like Sinnosuke but with more speed which is nice, but I do like more damage. Robin appears to be super strong when you know where enemies will come from but Eagle may beat out its DPS for a new player simply because you can hide in the corner during bosses and still score some hits.

Grouse is awful, among the worst close range shot types I've played due to having no speed to make up for the slow firing, awkward shots. Both Stuck/Widerstand in GW1 and Albatross/Ralugo in GW2 move faster, fire faster, and seem to deal more damage. Stuck's shots also go nearly all the way up the screen whereas Grouse's don't even reach halfway up with them travelling far slower to get there.

Now that I've got a feel for this, I'll have to try my hand at milking the bosses for score!

Nice job on the clear! The TLB is surprisingly easy. If you can make it there, and maybe have one bomb for security, you've mostly got it in the bag. The TLB is also the only boss in the game (afaik) where speed-killing it gives more score than milking it, so it incentivizes a quick-kill to cash in the time bonus (multiplied by your overall multiplier).

Agreed on the great damage of Eagle; too bad it's so slow. At least it's not Grouse. I've been using Hawk lately to try and see if I can really improve my scoring game. I think because of the Vertical layout of the game (and scrolling backgrounds), the slower ships are much more hobbled here than they were in the earlier games - in GW1 and 2, the slower ships did not have to worry as much about navigating the space and could compete on somewhat even footing with the other ships.

I agree wholeheartedly. You could still benefit from pointblanking with the slow ships as they didn't have as far to go to get up close to an enemy, whereas enemies tend to be quite high up the screen in GWG, so getting pointblank from the bottom of the screen takes longer. You pretty much have to start your reflect halfway up the screen for the slower ships! It's quite an adjustment to make here. Fortunately the Eagle's got so much ranged damage that for pure survival purposes you don't have to be quite as aggressive about getting on top of enemies during reflect, but Robin seems to play far more like the previous two games, easily pouncing on enemies during reflect thanks to its speed.

Yes Eagle is the best to ALL e the worst to score. Grouse is better than Eagle to score but hard to survive.
