Sure, the current Steam Deck has an IPS based LCD screen with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800 -- it can display at lower resolutions including 640 x 480 as well. It's quite sharp & vivid as it is but if Valve were to release a proper Steam Deck 2 handheld, an OLED based screen would make the colors really "pop" (like with how it is with the 1st gen Vita or the 2nd gen Switch with their OLED screen setups). That'd be the huge major upgrade (along with a slimmer & lighter profile weight-wise to round things off) with the Steam Deck 2 whenever Valve gets around to announcing it down the road/pipeline -- it's coming for sure. The real question would be then, "when will it be released" (in possibly 2024-2025 or thereabouts)?Lord of Pirates wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 2:40 pmTrackpad and a vertical mouse mode .XtraSmiley wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 2:08 pmWell outside the obvious that the SD is not FPGA, I'm actually waiting for the SD2 b/c I think the screen on the SD sort of blows. I also just watched a video on the Lenovo Legion, and it's very cool. Check it out:

Not to mention that the Steam Deck's cooling fan vent really gets warm or hot if playing a Steam game with the graphical setting is set to "High" or "Extreme" -- it's possible to run a Steam Deck "too hot" and cause it to shut down if an adequate 3rd-party cooling fan add-on or 3rd-party Steam Deck docking station with built-in twin cooling fan setup isn't used when running triple AAA Steam games with high-end graphic setting. Best to select "Medium" graphics setting and still have the Steam Deck running a bit cooler with the factory installed stock internal cooling fan from the get-go. Of course, your mileage may vary depending how you want said Steam game to run in moderation or go "all out" performance mode-wise.
