like the power consumption of this thing, it's going to have like a 2 hour battery life.
Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
System looks good to me. Based on Analogue's website, I am guessing the dock will be sold separately. This doesn't bode well for people that primarily want to use it on a television (system + shipping, dock + shipping). I could easily see it being well over $300 together if Analogue's previous products are anything to go by. Hopefully that's not the case, but I'm not holding my breath.

What do y'all think the lack of an SD slot means in relation to future jailbreak possibilities?
**nvm, I see it does appear to support MicroSD so I guess this thing is potentially as wide open as any of their machines - **

The unit has a SD card slot.bigbadboaz wrote:What do y'all think the lack of an SD slot means in relation to future jailbreak possibilities?
The flaws in all that stuff stem from the absolutely crap hardware they use, none of those devices should be used as a marker for the quality of software emulation that is possible. Shit quality hardware = Shit quality emulation.strygo wrote:In the broader market, nearly every other marketed reproduction device is software based and nearly every other device is flawed in large part due to the software emulation.

Didn’t see this before but could be interesting. Will I pay the ~$400 all in for some GG and NGPC on a crt? Ehhhhhfernan1234 wrote:It also says the dock can be paired with the Analogue DAC, guessing it would be outputting all systems at 240p?

I wonder if it will support link cables for each system?
Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
They claim 'original-style link cable port,' not sure which style(s) that is referring to.

Games for those systems, which could vary in horizontal resolution, would need to have different horizontal and vertical scaling factors to maintain their target 4:3 aspect ratio, right?awe444 wrote:thebigcheese wrote:320-wide systems like Genesis, if ever supported on this, will be playable in 5x letterboxed. 256-wide (SNES) would be playable at 6x pillarboxed.

Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
No, but everytime I look its out of stock. Since seeing what Analogue are doing its a no brainer to get this instead. Even if I don't use the other consoles cartridges on this unit, Its a selling point if I move it on.nmalinoski wrote:Was there something wrong with Woozle's GBA Consolizer?neorichieb1971 wrote:I'd buy one.

I used to own all 39 clam shell NGPC games from the UK. I think I made a mistake selling it on.
In other news, why do Analogue put SD card slots on these things? Its a gateway to emulation sure, but if thats the goal why put the cartridge slots on it at all?

Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
Nothing wrong with the Consolizer but the Analogue Pocket will be cheaper, has more features and will be both portable and a console.nmalinoski wrote:Was there something wrong with Woozle's GBA Consolizer?neorichieb1971 wrote:I'd buy one.

It works well, but as far as I know its just for the GBA and it looks a little bitdavidwhangchoi wrote:is that one good?nmalinoski wrote:Was there something wrong with Woozle's GBA Consolizer?neorichieb1971 wrote:I'd buy one.

Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
The consolizer can of course do GB and GBC games just like the unmodified GBA could. The main drawback is that the pre-built one costs $350 and can't do both portable and console in the same unit. From a pure bang-for-your-buck standpoint, the consolizer is a much worse value proposition for both the DIY and pre-built.
I feel kind of bad for Woozle, becaue it's a really great product.

I personally would still much prefer the Woozle GBA Consolizer, as long as it's actually in stock rather than forever in a nebulous pre-order state

Also, PC gamers might want to check back in on byuu and BSNES again.
We apologise for the inconvenience

Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
I was hoping they would post some actual product updates on social media every now and then but judging from the last posts i guess they’ll just keep posting short looped gameplay clips instead
Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
I wouldn't, the GBA Consolizer has done better than I expected and I learned a lot working on itGuspaz wrote:I feel kind of bad for Woozle, becaue it's a really great product.
I also have some cool new stuff planned, both Consolizer updates and new products in the pipeline. I teased the updated GBA Consolizer enclosure in a tweet https://twitter.com/Woozle64/status/118 ... 68352?s=20

Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
Yes, but it also makes jail breaking a breeze. If it was USB it would stick out and be horrible. They are making this pretty easy to jail break to max sales. The cartridge slot is there for decoration IMHO.Unseen wrote:As a user-friendly way to update the firmware?neorichieb1971 wrote:In other news, why do Analogue put SD card slots on these things?
Not that I mind. There are lots of alternatives already on the market.

Woozle, your GBA Consolizer is fantastic and is easily one of my favourite gaming devices now.Woozle wrote:I wouldn't, the GBA Consolizer has done better than I expected and I learned a lot working on itGuspaz wrote:I feel kind of bad for Woozle, becaue it's a really great product.

If you do end up putting your NGPC Consolizer through production, I'll be a day one pre-orderer for sure. I really like your work, your efforts to be personable to your customers, and would be happy to continue to support your products.
Looking forward to your future works, thanks for being awesome!

yeah people will still buy it, real hardware will never get fully eclipsed by clones no matter how good the clones getfernan1234 wrote:I personally would still much prefer the Woozle GBA Consolizer, as long as it's actually in stock rather than forever in a nebulous pre-order state

Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
Focusing on this device itself, I think a crucial factor in judging it will be how it handles the odd refresh rates of the systems supported.
Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
Your hands will hurt after playing GBA a while, to small.
Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
I'm just not the target market for this thing, not that anyone's keeping track or I guess cares. The condensed form factor of portables usually leaves my hands aching and I will not be arsed anymore to stare at a tiny screen. I'm old and use a 32" LCD for my computer 'monitor' these days. In fact I want to get a bigger display than that.heli wrote:Your hands will hurt after playing GBA a while, to small.
Amusing myself with thoughts of how expensive the HDMI dock will be. Generic joke about Analogue shipping, etc.
Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
FPGA discussion split into its own thread here. Try to keep it civil, folks.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Fair enough, but it really is part of the topic when discussing one of Analogue's devices.
BTW, it's possible to resent their marketing and still appreciate the quality of their actual devices, which I do.. I just didn't choose to jump into the FPGA fray here, again.

Re: Analogue Pocket (FPGA GB/GBC/GBA/NGP/LYNX)
with the analogue DAC it should go at its normal refresh rate? at least thats how its marketed.orange808 wrote:I'm curious how the console will handle refresh rates. With planned HDMI output, I expect some kind of trade off.
and if so ill easily sell my gamecube + gbp + component cables for this thing.
