Better archive/update these games just in case:
XOP Black (the sequel is already uploaded, not the first game though): http://sk8tokyo.com/udder/prog/xop/
D-STARS 1.50a (1.50 is outdated, just bugfixes): http://tuiskeimode.web.fc2.com/game/toppage.html
Precious Star 0.90: http://www7b.biglobe.ne.jp/~orchard/mai ... ject2.html
EX -Extra- 1.50 (1.1 is outdated): https://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dl/winnt/ ... 81666.html

Re: Save the XP era doujin games!
I was feeling nostalgic for one of my favs as a poor student and job seeker so I ported NOIZ2SA from SDL1 to SDL2.
Benefits:
https://github.com/IoriBranford/noiz2sdl2/releases
Benefits:
- Display in desktop resolution instead of 640x480x8bpp which is not well supported anymore
- Use a modern rendering API so it can work with current video recording software (e.g. OBS Studio), external shader software, etc.

Hi guys. As an archivist, I simply wanted to say, thanks for the work on this project. I certainly hope people will appreciate this effort in the future. Might you consider posting this on archive.org at some point?
Also, I’ll quickly point to the weva quadrant games which are freeware shmups from 2005 but which have completely dropped off the radar and I’m desperately trying to find. Should you have better luck than me or possess those games already please include them in that list.

G-style is the only one I have so far, you can find it here in my thread:

You might consider helping out with the Linux ports. It seems they segfault intermittently in Debian packages.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

I am also on the lookout for this one which is notoriously absent:
Amemissile:

Download link is dead. Tried to message freegame.cz about it and post on the forums but nothing.
Help would be appreciated.

Did anyone happen to save Yalkina STG Hard Edition? The official website of Yalkina STG featured a revised version with harder patterns called Hard Edition. I know neither myself nor Plasmo have it, and we were maybe the only people who really cared about this game to begin with. It would be more than awesome if it would be unearthed once again!

Re: Save the XP era doujin games!
To anyone interested in preserving those xp games:
Might anyone have come across postman’s backup CDs when buying doujin from him? If so, could he please come forward?
Link to the thread I have started for this purpose (in hindsight, I maybe should have posted here instead, sorry)

Looks like Google thinks 17 of these games have viruses and won't let you download them (the pop-up says you can download them individually, but this didn't work for me either):
I'm guessing some or all might be false positives. I probably won't get around to playing them anyway, but just thought I'd chime in.

Re: Save the XP era doujin games!
It's just Google being overzealous. Because their scanner couldn't read them properly, it's assuming they have viruses, but it just means the mass downloader that packs multiple games into one zip can't be used. I've never had an issue clicking and downloading each file manually... but it seems this might be a recent problem, because I can confirm trying to download something like Blue Wish Resurrection gives me an error: ""a virus was detected so you can't download this file". At least, I swear it used to give a message along the lines of "we couldn't scan this to confirm it's safe, download anyways? Y/N" and let you still download the files, but it seems they're treating users like idiots and nannying everyone to death.Looks like Google thinks 17 of these games have viruses
Might need to move the repository to another hosting platform. :/

The mirrors that hosted The Chase Full Metal Maiden - Leiria seem to be down. Anyone have it to add to the google drive?

Re: Save the XP era doujin games!
Is the doujin game Space Ranger Reyna an STG title (it's listed on the freem site)? And whom did the cool sexy anime girl artwork for SRR's main screen title as well? Reminds me of Tony Taka's racy anime stylized gals.beam wrote: ↑Sat May 18, 2019 8:55 am Many shmups are still available on vector.co.jp:
Dan Da Dan: https://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dl/win95/ ... 89976.html
Demolition Gunner: http://www.interq.or.jp/saturn/takuhama/Shooting6.html links to https://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dl/winnt/ ... 13422.html

EdensEdge1.31: https://www.vector.co.jp/download/file/ ... 48476.html
etc
Of course there's no Gwange.
Vector is a HUGE back up of freeware softwares.
There are many shmups available on freem too: https://www.freem.ne.jp/win/category/2
For those not skilled enough to browse japanese pages it's not that easy to locate.
Maybe a page in english with links to every shmup maybe useful.
Also on freem is the doujin title Fantasy Force II, a fan created tribute to the classic 1988 Sega's Galaxy Force II arcade game.
Both above doujin titles were uploaded to the freem site in 2023 -- so they're fairly recent.
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~
Re: Save the XP era doujin games!
Fantasy Force II is a trial, not a full game; it probably just hasn't been finished yet.
I was surprised that the games don't have links to a website for the developer.
