Ok, here goes the first pathetic effort!

Shatterhand - 927119 - Ferious - Stage 1-2 - Mame

Just my 1st go in the game..

How people had more than 1 million points in stage 2? Is there anything else in the score mechanics than "Shoot the ground enemies with lasers to get the medals" ??

Ooohh, this is so much better than Donpachi, and it's playable with my Dual Shock pad, so I think I'll do much better in this than in Donpachi (In spite of my first pathetic score :D)

This thread has a few tips.

http://forum.shmups.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2527

One thing you might want to try to do is make sure that the boss of stage 1 is colored green when you reach it: it tends to be worth more points than the brown (I think) one. I don't think anyone's sure about how exactly to trigger it, but I find that by not dying and medaling decently he tends to appear almost every time. When I finish the stage fighting the brown boss I usually end up with between 300 and 400K, but if I can successfully dissect the green one I can pull 700-800, and better players can surely improve upon that. If I can score well against the first boss, I can usually reach 1 mil (and the extend it brings) somewhere in stage 2.

I might just submit a score or two for this one, just for the heck of it...but oh, if only those dang bullets were a bit easier to see...

When I tried this one out, I thought "oh, nice. Let's try out a new shmup."

But after dying and dying at boss 2 I thought only
WTF?!?

Anyway now managed to kill this boss once, here's my score so far:

1'829'070 / Altair / Stage 3

And still not sure how the scoring mechanics work? :?

I think I don't like this game.
Actually I am already starting to hate this one...
Some bullet patterns are like WTF. I mean what is the problem of that boss no.2?!? Why do he have to kick my ass so bad every time I face him.

Well, maybe I just have to get used to this game... :?

Besides which ship has the strongest fire power Altair or the Cyvern No.3?
Maybe I'll try with that other ship, it could be better to kill bosses faster.

My best guess is that Altair (the red one, on the 1P side) is the "middle guy," Schwarz (the blue one) is the "slow/weak/wide-shooting" guy, and Ferious (the green one) is the "quick/strong/narrow-shooting" guy.

Shatterhand - 1962080 - Ferious - Stage 1-3 - Mame

This run was marked with some weird stuff... after I killed the 1st boss, the game begun frame skipping, then I got back to the desktop because MSN had crashed... anyway I managed to Alt+Tab back to the game before stage 2 enemies begun attacking... and in the middle of stage 2 my controls stopped responding for 2 seconds.. luckily I didn't get killed.

Managed to trigger the green 1st boss twice, and in both times I had done a very good medalling in the stage..

And come on, the 2nd boss is very cool! When he fires his big laser, and you you have like 3 pixels of space to dodge, I found that very cool.

It's only real hard pattern is the very last one.. I bombed, then I wasted all my banish on it, which was a mistake as I didn't had any banish in stage 3, and missed some ground enemies....

This game is very cool!

Though this game is, as the cap'n said, an express train to the awesome station in downtown Funtown, I'm sucky at it. I've never actually beaten the second boss. I'll be trying to do that now, though.

OK, first decent run.

Tomtom - 1,213,260 - Ferious - 1-2

I continued and beat the boss shortly after, going on to make it all way through stage 3 on one life (died on the boss). This game has easily some of the best bosses I've ever seen in a shooter. Epic, multifaceted, and hard as...I dunno, something really hard.

Edge / 2'683'960 / Stage 3 / Ferious

The bosses are really mean bastards.
I am not used to turbo lightspeed bullets. So maybe I'll just have to get used to this game, but honestly it sometimes get me pissed. Esspecially when I lose all my lifes at one boss. However, I am beginning to realize how the bosses work and how I dodge their attacks better and I noticed it's important which part of the bosses you destroy first. If I kill the wrong parts it may do something I don't want it to do.

The medalling is cool, and i really thank Kaneko for their kindness that I am allowed to let some ground enemies pass without reseting the medal value, or that I don't have to banish all enemies. Thank you!

Keeping the medals going on stage 4 is very hard, as is that bloody mid-boss

This game does not agree with me at all.

Icarus - 3,487,560 - Ferious - 1-4 - MAME

Image

I died halfway through the stage here, and lost maybe 600k-1mil through bomb-killing bosses and safety bombing. And I dropped my Medals values early in stage4.

I really need to work on my stage strategies, as running out of Banish at key points is really hurting my score. Not to mention leaving me temporarily without the use of a powerful longrange weapon. -_-;;

You know DEL will drop in and take over the top spot at some point ^_-

EDIT: Is it me or is the floor missing in stage4? Looks like all the tanks are floating in midair.

The MAME driver for the Super Nova system currently doesn't emulate alpha blending (transparency) and as a result the layering is a little screwy. There are minor glitches in other parts of the game for the same reason--e.g. the train in stage 1 appears on top of the tunnel entrance instead of inside it.

1.723.880 - stage 3 - eeeh green dragon :P

bloody great game this, just recieved it today and had a couple of tries on it, this "spinning" bullet patterns from 3rd stage "tanks" were a real biyatch.
2nd boss was quite hard too..

Tomtom - 1,764,810 - Ferious - 1-3

WHOA! Beat the second boss, through some miracle! There was a huge storm of bullets that I knew was going to finish me off, but mere frames before it hit me the victory music started playing it and that mo-fo exploded.

Anyone else think that Stage 3 was inspiration for Mushihimesama? :)

The game isn't bad up until 1-4 ... where the difficulty goes from (relatively) 3 to 10.

Getting better at the bosses, but I still die very often by just stupid popcorn enemies.

When you see a dangerous situation don't hesitate to use a bomb, you have enough. I often die with 3 bombs in stock or something.
