Sony Trinitron KV-32FS100 Color Problem

Post by Tayumpee »

Hello everyone,

I have a Sony Trinitron KV-32FS100 that seems to having a few problems with color. Using the system menu, I am not able to adjust video settings to get the picture anything close to what it should be. Everything is generally very saturated and red-heavy. I have not tried using the service menu yet. Additionally, color seems to shift around and settle if I leave the screen static (i.e idle at game menu) for a few minutes.

I'm not versed in this trade, but I'd guess there are some capacitors on the board that I could replace to alleviate some of these problems. I've never done any soldering more than replacing a GBC cart battery, but I imagine a repair like that should be doable for me.

In the end, I really have no idea what I'm talking about and I came here to ask the experts. What steps should I take to debug the issue, and if its repairable, how can I solve the issue? I've attached an image with my televisions output vs something closer to normal. I adjusted my camera's settings to best represent what I saw with my eyes. Thank you.
