That must mean that TURBO FORCE was/is breakin' all da rulez with its LEGALLY QUESTIONABLE 3-PLAYER ACTION

Image
"What? A Turbo Force menage a trois can't promote monogamous stable hetero-relationships with which to produce future subjects!"

Now I know why arcades had a rep for hooliganism back in the day: stuffy bean-counters recoiling as the toughs fought it out on V-System cabs.

Taking a wild guess, is it possible that stupid wordings of laws on gambling machines made the existance of 2-player modes the easiest sensible ways for amusement machines to separate themselves from the other types? Almost every country has had some kind of trouble with video game arcades over the years due to insensible laws made to control the gambing market.

Of course, another likely explanation could be that someone pulled Muchispork's leg. :3

You know how Yu Suzuki sort of disappeared for a few years? Turns out he was breaking rocks in the clink on account of Hang-On, Space Harrier, and all those other one-player-only games he made in the 80s. Same with the guys that made Haunted Castle, although simply making that game was probably a federal offense.

Honestly, Sumez's explanation sounds so Japanese, that has to be true.

It's an unspoken rule for operators to buy a game. Many locations will refuse to buy 1P only games for a conversion cab (not including DX cabs).

Also, certain Nesica games are actually disabled on a 1P setup.

Do you think operators know how to 1cc a shooter or what 1cc even means? We are talking about owners of malls etc.

Thanks for all the info Shou, this new system sounds really great.
Compatible with most I/O boards is a big plus.

....On a off-topic question: -did you win the Gun frontier Extra YJ auction?

Absolutely, thanks for confirming though as I refrained from bidding on that Item as I guessed you were bidding. :)

Yes, I figured this exactly was the case, thanks for confirming.

Will it run on an Egret 2 if it won't support low res?

If you change the chassis on your Egret 2 to one which supports tri-sync, then it will work.

Stock MS9 on the E2 is only 15/24khz, which won't work.

Here's the 411 on the Exa-Arcadia arcade platform courtesy of Arcade Heroes released today, 2/07/2018: http://arcadeheroes.com/2018/02/07/exa- ... jaepo-2018

There's also a brief mention of this newfangled Exa-Arcadia hardware & software titles being showcased at the upcoming 2018 California Extreme show to be held at the Santa Clara Convention Center this July 28-29th, 2018 in Santa Clara, CA -- I'll definitely be there for both days, indeed, to further check it out. Cool and unexpected major new news development in regards to the upcoming 2018 CAX show (article also has a brief mention of the new arcade hardware being shown at the Replay FX venue as well). It sounds like some Exa-Arcadia company reps will be on hand to handle the proper unveiling of their new arcade IP there.

Sounds like a Type X PC which can have upto for dongles (games) attached.

I just hope that the Hardware is fairly small and not too heavy.

It's a PC, it has its own PSU.

Have you had the chance to look at it?
If not: implying that a PC automatically comes with its own PSU is.. a stretch, to say the least.
Airframe/"Skycurser" for example is a run off the mill AMD PC, yet supposed to work via the cab PSUs - which resulted, even though being a lot less powerful than a PS4, in some cabs/PSUs being incompatible.

That's why I asked.

Airframe was supposed to be JAMMA compliant, which it isn't. It draws its power over 12V and requires current many JAMMA PSU's simply can't supply.

I want to start saving for this but it's kind of a shot in the dark without a price range.
Less than 2k would be great.

Since it is a worldwide release, will it be sold through the regular Arcade operator/Amusement Vendor channels or are there going to be some other representatives available?
Or is it a direct to consumer/operator affair?

No pre-orders, i imagine?

The people behind this project, the other companies already involved and also the motivations already stated for the project itself seem great.
Good luck with this venture! I hope it suceeeds.

It's not even open yet. Bastard!

That marquee is huge.
Take a peek inside the cab, pick the lock. :P

Unfortunately, no, just some inside information :)

I've been quiet but I know some details about this since last year. But I was asked not to share info for a while.

So is Exa-Arcadia software running on dedicated rom cartridges or encrypted HDDs/SSD media?

I know that the Airframe arcade platform (running Skycurser) has built-in wi-fi for the latest updates and whatnot. It's been said that it requires a dedicated arcade PSU that supplies at the very minimum 3 amps to get it to run properly (or else it's no dice).
