Thanks for putting this list together being that the XBLIG are being delisted at the end of the month. I found several shmups in your list that I didn't previously own. I also have several shmups that you did not list. Keep in mind that some of these games I am listing may be twin stick shooters, run and gunners, gallery shooters but they do fall into the shooter category on XBOXLIVE. You may want to research these games before adding them to your list.

will Microsoft finally stop demanding people to be online if they want to play XBLIG games?

sorry to slightly derail the thread, but is there a list of really good XBLIG titles which might be worth getting before they shut it down ?

I have a few dozen, but haven't checked back for years...

we could post our Top 10 XBLIG lists, I guess that would bring out the best from the sea of crap that plagues the service

That is a most excellent list, SideshowN. I've added the shmups from your list to the main list. I also found a few more just browsing by name. Unfortunately, it looks like a lot of shmups on XBLIG aren't categorized correctly. I'm sure there are probably at least a dozen or two more XBLIG shmups for us to find, but time is running out.

For the answer to that one we'll have to wait until Xbox Live is completely nixed on the 360; for now it looks like they'll continue to be accessed the "normal" way.

One Finger Death Punch is awesome. Mobile port is kind of bad though, too many ways to cheat the game.

Time is running out indeed. I'll have to put in another solid night of binge searching and buying soon. There probably a few stragglers for shmups not on your master list from the XBLIG service that we'll have to dive very deep to find. I'll report back with any findings if any.

I made a thread for that exact purpose a bunch of years ago. I check XBLIG irregularly, but I haven't found anything really good in a long time.
My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself
<Despatche> you've been a thorn in the shmups community since the beginning, you're largely responsible for the horrible face of modern speedrunning

+1 to Compromised if anyone hasn't played it.

I bought it years ago before I went full shmup and rather enjoyed it a lot.

Is there any reason to get the XBLIG version of Prismatic Solid rather than the PS4 version?
Likewise, is there any reason to get Chain Crusher if I already have Chain Crusher Horizon?

XBLIG is shutting down at the end of September. If the game's ported elsewhere there isn't much reason to bother unless you'd like to have the XBLIG version. They're re-downloadable, but will just become inaccessible at the end of the month onwards.

I was asking if the XBLIG versions of those games have content or features that are significantly different from other available versions which would make them worth owning. As far as I am aware neither are worth owning compared to the other versions, but I may have overlooked something. For example, Downtown Geki Totsu Dodgeball! is worth owning, even though there was a nearly identical WiiWare version released afterwards.

The XBLIG version of Prismatic Solid and the PS4 version of the same name both have the same content -- they both play the same as well.

I'm not sure about if XBLIG Chain Crusher is different from it's upgraded big brother though. I'd give it try.
