Nana's Good STGT Planning/Interest Check

Post by Nana »

NG-STGT

I've been wanting to run a STGT with a certain batch of 5 games, all of which are fantastic and great. They're not exactly kusoge, and I think should all be pretty dang fun. But they are all at least a little bit janky, and very very obscure.

Is there any particular set of 5 weeks coming up (in 2017) which people would be interested in participating?

I want this to be a pretty-laid back tourney for people of all skill levels, and for people without a lot of time to commit. This will be reflected in the games I choose as well.

EDIT: Changed 'an STGT' to 'a STGT.'

It is "an stgt" if you are intending it to be read as an abbreviation since when you read out the letters it starts with a vowel sound.

I don't think I ever have 5 contiguous weeks where I have lots of free time, but October will generally be good for me. I believe I've only participated in one event here, so don't take much weight from my opinion.

I believe Trap does that partially to level the playing field. Someone who's new to DDP isn't going to beat the score of a veteran in just a week.

Less games that are outright nauseating would be nice though.

I would be ok with doing this right now, because I'm STGT-starved.

We need games with bare scoreboards, so people will actually play those games. Hopefully these would also be playable, seeing as someone made a board for them. Just making new boards for silly games isn't as interesting.

Personally I'd love to have another tournie. It's been what, 2 years since the last one? Too long since i got angry at a game.

Another STGT? My body is ready!

Obscure games like Trap's last year are welcome, as far as it's not on ZZZ tier.

What about a tournament for people who only have 1 or don't have any 1CCs to their name?

Might get those of us with less talent/time/discipline to get involved more instead of looking on from the sidelines.

I feel like 90% of the participants of an STGT don't 1CC the games they're playing anyway. If anything some good-natured competitive playing fosters the skills that can lead to more 1CCs, like savestate practice and memorization.
