Alternatives to PVMs/BVMs?

Post by Brad251 »

I am looking for a professional monitor and I know PVMs/BVMs are good, but would like to get one with a shadow mask screen. Can you guys recommend some specific brands and models of good 20" professional monitors with shadow mask screens and RGB/Component inputs that were manufactured in the 2000s? I don't like really thick scanlines so I am looking for models with a TV line count in the 600-700 range.

Here are some models I have researched that match this criteria:

JVC

BM-H2000PN-K
-750 line (line count a little high but pictures I have seen of this model on here look pretty good)
-RGB/Component

TM-H1950CGU
-750 line
-RGB/Component

Ikegami

TM 20-17R and TM20-18R
-600 TV lines
-RGB/Component
-shadow mask
-saw some pics of games running on this on reddit and the picture looks pretty nice

TM 20-80RH
-700 line
-RGB and Component

One effect of a high-TVL tube is to make the image sharper, and thus the light-and dark horizontal line effect gets much more noticeable. Truer of aperture grilles, but still noticeable.

Or did you mean you're not looking for higher TVL?

EDIT: of course you did, I'm an idiot :/

I have the Ikegami TM20-80R. I like it a lot. If you want any pics I can take some.

Yes. I would very much appreciate that. Where did you get your TM20-80R?
