The Issue was that SIMMS 5 and 6 had been reversed. I switched them and all is well
Progear It is a battery board never pheonixed. Everything boots up fine , no graphical issues, Qsound intro plays fine. Once I press start and get to the character select screen I get a bad looping type audio effects and no music. It is almost as if there are certain sound effects playing in a loop where the music should be, or perhaps the sound effects are supposed to supplement the ( nonexistent ) music. I have worked on this for a day trying everything I know how to do from removing both A and B boards and connecting them without housing, blowing compressed air in connections, checking all chips to be properly seated, checked voltages at jamma edge with load, etc. I do only have one motherboard to test it on, which did not come from the same seller, but has been tested and works great with another game. Board appeared to have no sound output when first powered up, upon further inspection the volume pot on the PCB was turned all the way down. I turned it up some which did help to make the audio barely audible, but even at its maximum is still very low. Iv adjusted the volume pot on my cab as well but even turning it to med-high is yielding a high hiss and low overall volume.
EDIT: Found the problem, it appears to be a black capacitor that was pushed over and bent onto a yellow capacitor (I think the yellow one is to decrease circuit noise, but not sure?) and that in turn pushed it onto the soldered chip behind it. I was able to carefully pry them apart so they aren't touching anymore, but the top of the yellow capacitor seams to be brown and discolored now. After powering back on, the sound volume is fixed, and is able to achieve normal range but a new problem is evident. The audio is quite distorted sounded, almost akin to having an amp too loud and getting distortion. Could the yellow cap be ruined and causing this issue? Or perhaps the entire area needs recapping? If anyone has some insight as to what could be causing this problems, or how to fix it please help me out.
