Re: Prelude to the Apocalypse
I think I've completely lost track of wherever the US Overton window went, but conservative America's fight against whatever communism is rages on.
This guy's radio show is carried by a mass media corporation called 'iHeartMedia,' because of course it is.

Re: Prelude to the Apocalypse
I'd typed up a post about this guy just last week - but then couldn't find the source for what I was trying to reference, so didn't post it.Sengoku Strider wrote:(re: Jesse Kelly)
This guy's radio show is carried by a mass media corporation called 'iHeartMedia,' because of course it is.
I listened to a segment where Jesse Kelly was blathering about "this war is not going to end soon" ..."this is your children's war, your grandchildren's war" ..."because they are trying to destroy everything you believe in" ... "they will not stop until they control everything in your lives and your children's lives" ... "that is why we must kill them" ... "they are coming to destroy us so we must destroy them first." ... "the communists must be destroyed" ... "you must be prepared to give your life and your children's lives to destroy the communists" ..." They want to kill us we must kill them."
That was the gist of what I listened to. Previous Jesse Kelly shows I've listened to focused largely on purporting that all pandemic precautions are communist, all social justice efforts are communist, all liberal policies are communist, anyone who is not with us is communist.
I was a little stunned hearing him openly calling to kill communists - how is he broadcasting such calls to violence against fellow Americans ...
oh, wait, my bad, Jesse Kelly clarifies - the Chinese, the Russians. Those are the communists he is talking about preparing to go to war with.
Then after the next commercial break he goes right back to proclaiming about Fauci and covid precautions being communist.
I'd then looked up his webpage and wondered if the broadcasts were available there. Of the ones I listened to online I could not find the segment where he said to prepare your children for war and that they must kill the communists. Did a producer actually recognize that as too extreme and scrub that from the record?
iHeartRadio owns a lot of the airwaves in the USA, and they seem to broadcast the most misleading, divisive, and bombastic material of any media corporation.
After the Trumpist's attempts to overthrow our government, a local restaurant (among others) was complaining on facebook about not feeing safe to open for fear of further pollical violence - they actually posted a picture of their restaurant boarded up. (we're in the PA state capitol and there was concern that insurrectionists were going to try to seize or make a presence at the state capitol on inauguration day. Months earlier; protesting covid lockdown, radical nutjobs did come and occupy some streets with weaponry of all kind.)
For years I've heard this restaurant's advertisements on the local AM conservative political and conspiracy talk radio station. When I pointed out to the owners with their years of advertising support, they have been directly funding the broadcasters calling for the overthrow of the election (as well as anti-BLM and anti-LGBT programing - which this restaurant otherwise vocally supported), they claimed to have never heard of the radio station, WHP580.
When the owners responded again, they said they had no idea their restaurant was being advertised on that station and it was because they paid for a package advertising deal with iHeartRadio. They thought they were going to be advertising on the local adult contemporary rock station - and they are, but they also funded shows like Jesse Kelly etc.
edit: just looked up what "Overton window" means. had never heard of that.
That is exactly what was striking me when I was hearing Jesse Kelly directly say to kill communists and implore his listeners with urgency that their children are going to be fighting this "war". - like, "people tolerate this kind of talk on nationally broadcast radio?!!" Episode after episode Jesse Kelley riles and weaves an allusion that liberals are communists. Now he and other conservatives are (and iHearMedia) are crossing the threshold of calling outright for the murder and prolonged war against "the enemy". Sean Hannity opens his radio show with a count of "days under siege" by the "Biden regime". These are major broadcasters (Jesse Kelly on the come up?) pushing this discourse, it's shocking to hear so openly how they're priming and marketing civil war.The Overton window, also known as the window of discourse, describes the range of ideas tolerated in public discourse.

Re: Prelude to the Apocalypse
One other thing to keep in mind in connection with the whole Overton window thing is that, according to conventional wisdom, when either the left or the right goes too far off the rails the "center" will abandon it and force it to moderate in order to stay relevant; it's the reason people like me are constantly being told to be grateful that Manchin and Sinema are refusing to allow us to raise taxes on the wealthy in order to pay for health care. Somehow, though, when not just the fringe but mainstream rhetoric on the right is arguing for both violence against and (even more worringly, IMO) open electoral disenfranchisement of their opponents, somehow that is not considered beyond the pale, to the point that the right is projected to clean up in the upcoming elections; all the while, nobody is grabbing the swing voters by the collar and demanding an explanation - "you call yourself a centrist, yet seriously still consider this a viable option?"Koa Zo wrote:"people tolerate this kind of talk on nationally broadcast radio?!!"
Just keep that in the back of your mind the next time someone tells you that conservatives are "persecuted" and "under assault" in the USA.

He's just standing up for freedom in the face of Stalinist mask mandates.

Finally, someone who invokes "communists" as a bogeyman for lovers of freedom (well, bogeymen, bogeypeople...whatever it is).
As someone who complained about USA's obsession with the more vanilla concept of "socialism" and its mildly flavoured association to PRC, I feel that "we" are making progress.
Whoever the "we" may be about.
Off to go some bottles of "Stalin" merlot for the new year. Great balance between price and flavour, and works a charm with red meat (christian children, of course!). Anyone wants pictures?

Hello fellow accelerationists. It is around day 2,190 of our accelerationism. How is increasing the rate you increase your velocity at going?
Always amazed me people can laugh at North Korea's propaganda about their emperor king never having to poop, but never spare a critical thought to the relentless grooming we ourselves are subject to. We all live in giant cults of one kind or another. The simulated reality inside of our heads, the true place that we all live in, can be molded into almost anything.
The number of times a liberal called me a coo-coo bird for pointing out the Manufactured Consent, sigh..
Somewhat distressingly this post-nine eleven 24/7 news cycle was a tool they stumbled onto by accident. No one would want to spend all day watching the news, a sane functional person thought. But it turns out tons of us have no lives and can be mobilized as a reliable vanguard for capitalists/popes/kings/whoever it is at the top of the hierarchy pyramid.
Like all things, this is manufactured top down. Like I said, we're groomed constantly from birth and television has taken the role of church in that respect: the mechanism the dictators use to quell dissent and wrong-think. It's completely arbitrary - if those in power wanted to raise the minimum wage it'd be an acceptable thing to think and speak about out loud, but instead it's in the same bucket as molesting trees or something.Koa Zo wrote:edit: just looked up what "Overton window" means. had never heard of that.

Always reliable scapegoats and boogiemen, those are.oh, wait, my bad, Jesse Kelly clarifies - the Chinese, the Russians. Those are the communists he is talking about preparing to go to war with.

Speaking of boogiemen, isn't it astounding how easily the agents of the deep state manage to poison attendants of MAGA-related rallies, with Anthrax?

Oh, OK. Though I must say that the party representative for my faculty is a stunning beauty of a woman, well-read (OK, she cites Chomsky) and with an absolutely killer volley and serve, apparently. What kind of "war" these fellows would like to wage (*nudge nudge, wink wink!*)?BryanM wrote:Always reliable scapegoats and boogiemen, those are.oh, wait, my bad, Jesse Kelly clarifies - the Chinese, the Russians. Yeah, it's funny how no one believes in collapse until it's already over and done, even with a straight line to the iceberg in front of us. Global warming has gotten to the point that political cartoonists can't even do the "it snowed so global warming is a hoax" comic anymore, since it never snows where they live now.EmperorIng wrote:for everyone except Bryan

Some good news, at least Covid Variant Unicron is relatively mild.
It seems to be highly infectious but not very highly dangerous.

Re: Prelude to the Apocalypse
So yeah, we could just call it this week's episode of "Just When You Thought Rand Paul Couldn't Be More of a Horse's Ass" and call it a day, but seriously, have a gander at the Washington Examiner article he references: even putting aside the spectacle of the right getting upset over private money in politics (they go so far as to call it "laundered"), the mere act of attempting to make voting more accessible to more people in the middle of a pandemic is "stealing", "ballot harvesting", a "shadow campaign". And they are attempting to encode this entirely good faith interpretation of events into election law.
If you'll pardon me beating the same drum again, while the "moderates" are freaking out over critical race theory, they are fully prepared to allow mass electoral disenfranchisement to occur without so much as a second glance. Frankly, I'd love to have any one of them attempt to justify this state of affairs.

Like with Assange, Manning, Snowdon - if someone falls out of line they need to be made an example of in the town square. She and Epstein were supposed to be suppliers, not a problem.
Hmph, feels gross putting them in the same sentence as them. But to the rulers' point of view, they are similar.

Yeah, Gates got asked about it once out of the blue and was forced to be uncomfortable for all of fifteen seconds. I guess his divorce made him uncomfortable for about a minute or two.
You have to put on your Dees hat and start thinking like a lizard person. From their point of view. This isn't about "justice", or appeasing the rabble whatsoever. Watch my math:
1. Epstein is not their only dealer. Obviously.
2. They don't want their dealers to cause them problems. Such as bringing attention to what they're doing. Or blackmail, etc. What happens in the dark is to stay in the dark.
3. Therefore, they need to make an example of someone when they cross the line. Pushing them down the stairs or whatever is insufficient - the dim might assume it might really have been an accident. There's no room for subtlety when it comes to discipline: they need to be so clear and obvious about what happened and who did it, that only an absolute pants-shittingly, poop-eatingly stupid person could miss it.
They're gangsters, just like drug lords. Gotta keep up the fiction that they're more than human. Can't let anyone think they can step on you.
One of the more disturbing thoughts about all this: You know Epstein's singularity fantasy? The one where he's god and inseminates everyone like cattle? To at least a couple of these lizard people, that was his greatest sin. That's their fantasy, and this little guy was getting uppity. "Know your place, little guy."
That Punished Bernie video Mischief posted is barely hyperbole for how these people are.

Pre-emptive "sorry for wasting your time" if you read all of this. just an exercise in recapping what is on the afterwork radio:
Ken Matthews, right wing newsertainment propagandist, tells his story of coming home from church on Sunday: if he behaved, the family would stop at Little Caesars for a “$5 hot and ready pizza.” He explains how his dad couldn’t afford the high-end place; “Red Lobster”, they went to Little Caesar’s. (Good work on implying his religiosity and his everyman meager upbringing.) Ken then reports that the price is being raised for the first time ever in the company’s 25 year history (which is incorrect) immediately he sing-songs the “Let’s go Brandon” chant.
Matthews then says “Of course, if you’re “woke” it won’t matter.” What an odd tie-in, that “woke people” and Biden are to be derided because the price of pizza has gone up. Oh wait but he’s not done yet, “If you’re Nancy Pelosi you have a refrigerator full of ice cream” (huh?) “What’s 55 cents?” he tells his audience “Nancy” will say.
Then Ken goes on about Dollar General stores and how they are raising prices to $1.25, further establishing his claim; with no evidence or factual relation to policy, that this is all the liberals fault. You have libruls, “Brandon,” Nancy, and "woke people" to blame for your pizza and dollar store prices.
I turned it off at that point to type up this nonsense. A few holes in his story; not that it matters, Little Creasers did not sell “Hot & Ready” pizzas for $5 back when Ken was coming home from church. Funny he had a segment earlier in the show about liars - but of course this is just "comedic" license, I'm sure. And what was that 25 year claim? Little Ceasers was founded in 1959 and the Hot & Ready came out in 2001. Well accuracy isn’t the point I guess. The point is you need to hate libruls and woke people and transgender people. Transgender people?, don’t worry he’ll get to that.
I googled Little Caesars to check that 25 year claim and find a People Magazine article that exactly covers what Ken made his segment about: Little Caesars and Dollar General. Of course he omitted Little Caesars’ spin that they are just meeting customers’ requests to add more pepperoni – so the pizza has 33% more pepperoni and that’s why the price is going up (what a gross commentary on the value of peperoni. 55 cents for more ass cancer, hooray!). Yeah that’s "Brandon" and Nancy’s fault. Good enough to keep his listeners keyed-into who they should hate.
I knew this “story” would be rippling through the right wing idiotsphere, and here Ken wasn’t even the first on the wave.
So then, 15 minutes later after typing most of this I turn the radio back on, and Matthews is concluding his show... A transgender person won on Jeopardy. Ken exclaims “wait a second, that’s a guy in a wig!” ...a bunch of gibberish about transgender people and wigs and then something about being “a real man or woman aviator” and he salutes you. Obviously, I missed what led into transgender and aviators, but the important part is Matthews’ is patriotic and salutes them! Oh yeah, and that transgender people are to be reviled and devalued.
Then signing off with some statement about “…If I’m on the air tomorrow..." calling back to his great refrain of “they’re silencing us!!!”
This guy is nationally syndicated as the “drive-time” programming from 3-6pm; a major talk radio timeframe, and he's apparently growing in popularity after his brief stint filing in for dead Rush Limbaugh. Yeah sure is being “silenced and censored” as he claims repeatedly in every show.
I drop this slop here just as a time capsule – a slice of what is considered important prime time discourse for the conservative right media. We are fucked. That this guy and scores of broadcasters or “personalities” like him have rapt audiences for such simple-minded subterfuge propaganda day after day, hour after hour - could there be any more stark indicator of what we are as a nation and a species - a bunch of dipshits. What a waste of society.
