I have read about the Pioneer PDP-V402EU on this forum as to be a good gaming monitor, but it is hard to find one for sale. When searching around for a Pioneer a Hitachi CMP-307XE showed up. It's 3" smaller than the Pioneer, but still a large 4:3 display.
Anybody knows about this Hitachi CMP-307XE?
Could it be worth the buy?

It's a XGA panel (1024x768) resolution, so you end up with scaling just like you would on any other HD panel around. As far as I remember the set also doesn't 15khz RGB, just 31khz and higher.

Yeah, so it seems: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/466905 ... =29#manual
Damn! I thought I was on to something.
It could may be a nice 4:3 PC monitor then

I have one that I have used on and off for gaming - sadly mine only has a wall mount so its a pain to use. I have not used it with anything but a PC, but yeah its pretty awesome. Here is a terrible picture of it:

My supergun is currently a state away so I cannot show you it running MVS or PGM games, but if there is anything you are interested in seeing on it or want to know about it, I can try to answer.
Its a neat conversation piece, but it is heavy as hell and noisy (despite having its fans fixed). I have been tempted to trade it away, but the last guy who wanted it went quiet.

Picture is great except that the blacks are really just dark greys. Viewing angles are excellent. My only complaints are that it may be too big and that it is heavy. Sitting right infront of it and playing a vert is difficult because you have to move your head to see the whole map. It is awesome for Steel Battalion and X-wing though.
I have no idea on price, I have seen them for sale for $500-$2000. I was trying to trade mine for a pinball machine. It is too heavy and awkward for one person to move comfortably - and I move 27inch crts all the time.
Here is a good shot for colors at an angle with lights directly above it:
