Hey, as you might know I've been doing game reviews on YouTube. But, I noticed something very irksome. I thought maybe my cheapish video cap device was desynching and not capturing the sharpest picture. This is even in the video preview after the dv files are imported, well before I produce the final video file output.
BUT...
I looked at the .dv files that were being recorded using VLC, and they're both completely sharp *and* the sound never desynchs. It's odd because iMovie is the program I'm using to capture the dv files. This means that although it records a flawless recording, it screws it up somehow during the importing-into-my-project phase.
Does anyone know a way around this, rather than "don't use iMovie"? Maybe upscaling, or importing using a different file format? Has anyone else hit this problem and found a good solution?

Re: Making game movies with iMovie - blur and sync issues
I recently ran into the same problem with iMovie whilst cutting a trailer - the version I was using is a few years old. From what I understand no matter what the resolution your raw footage is iMovie will convert it to its own weird resolution - something like 900x560 for export - sorry, I can't remember the exact number. Anyhow, it has some in built thingy you can't bypass.
So er... Yeah, it's shit... If there's a way round it I couldn't find it. Selecting "original" or "optimised" made no difference. I ended up using an old version of FCP, way better.
