Post by MovingTarget »

So i finally got mine today, looooooong overdue, and its a noisy f*****r! The stick gates have really loud clicks, is that normal? Hopefully I dont get grief from people trying to sleep here late at night.

Sticks gonna click, you'll get used to it. What kind of stick is it?

yup - that's pretty standard. there are silent options (like the silent JLF that you can get from focusattack), but the majority of the sticks are gonna have clicky microswitches.

Its just a basic team ninja thing I got right now for xbox and pc, testing the water. I dunno if this stick is easy to mod, but that might be an option down the line. If, that is, you can buy just the stick unit, or the whole thing depending on price. Some of the prices are a bit nuts...

depends. some sticks are soldered in and are more difficult to replace - though if you have a simple understanding of desoldering + soldiering there shouldn't be an issue.

other's have crimped connectors which are very easy to disconnect/reconnect. if yours has those connectors, it's a matter of finding a compatible stick (i.e. for seimitsu it would be the -01 counterparts.... there's the ls-32 and the ls-32-01), screwing it in, and attaching the connectors.

Suzo makes a noiseless stick, very nice piece of tech.

D’OH! Am I thinking the “inductive” is silent one?

Yep. The easiest way to a really quiet one is to get a JLF and fit it with a SPARK (by Toodles): www.godlikecontrols.com - also, there won't ever be any need to replace broken switches. A tougher spring is advised though.

I've heard of people adding foam or other sound absorption material to the joystick casing to reduce the noise. Never tried it though.
