Advice on some connection (Extron Crosspoint)

Post by fafangus »

Hi guys !!

I need your advice in connecting my setup

I've got 14 consoles (Scart + Vga output) - I plain to have 2 extron crosspoint - 3 sync device - and the 5 Xrgbs to work all together

So it's a bit overkilling schema, but I think it will work like a charm....or not :P

Here it is :

*DC & Atomiswave output should be Vga...

Let me know if I should change somthin'

Thanks !!! :D

You need clean sync on all your sources before going into the Crosspoint switches.

Where are your display(s) ?

What's the Sync Strike / Rooty loop good for ?

Mmm...So I need to place my sync cleaner before the extron ?

That's gonna make my schema a bit worthless

The rooty is to select between xsync and sync strike...

My display is after the Onkyo (Hdmi out)

so you run the XRGB1/2/3's output through the Mini as well ?

yes, but it's only neccessary for very few systems. You just have to use the right cable config on your systems. And to the few that doesn't offer sync output, you can add LM1881 either to the cable or directly to the Sync input on the Crosspoints. There's plenty of space there.

Oh ... yes, I could do that with that setup :o , but it's not the idea I have in doing it, it's to have the fifth Xrgb connected together, lol scaling the xrgb-2 with the mini would be nice too

Oh sounds interresting, and on what BNC connector should I plug the LM1881 (and I've got a lot of them...) ?

no, you should not - too much lag. But still wondering, what device does the A/D conversion for your XRGBs ?

You need a stripper on all sync BNC connectors that go into the Crosspoint as long as the source does just output composite video for sync.

None, I just plug the scart into the scart input of the Xrgb 8) lol

So I need to make a stripper like that Image
on each signal that need it ... :?

I'm not that good in soldering ...

Or I could ask retrogamingcable.co.uk to make directly the cable from console to BNC with the sync included

I meant how you connect the XRGB analogue OUTPUT to your TV's input.

You should figure out which of systems need a stripper and which don't.

I plug xrgb output vga into my gefen vga to dvi and then hook up to my onkyo

Yeah I only do that stripper circuit on signals who need it ;-)
