There have been a few sales on Steam as well recently, didn't know they were as frequent on PS.

Either way, it's an affordable way to get some great games, with a solid presentation (even if they don't have all the bells and whistles of, say, an M2 handled release).

PS1 port has a lot more slowdown than the AC version and a practice mode (IIRC). Version 2 is a version that was made to be harder to please arcade operators.

And G-Darius is required playing if you like the genre.

I will say the experience of playing G Darius in 2023 is interesting. It certainly makes me nostalgic, but not exactly in a warm, fuzzy way.
To think, there was a time where developers were dying to utilize every new graphical and sound advancement made available to them, and try out every nutty gimmick that popped into their heads.

If it was me I'd just get all of them, but I am not a Darius expert and I don't even know what's in the Consumer/Console version because that doesn't exist on PC for some reason. All of those are technically M2 ShotTriggers games, so the emulation is all basically better than perfect. Don't forget that Darius Gaiden's rank increases every time you press the shot button, so it's probably best to use the internal auto and not spam 30Hz external autofire for the duration of the entire game.

Of the Qute games, Eschatos is the best, and I am assuming that on consoles it comes with Judgement Silversword and Cardinal Sins. If it does, get it because those are probably/possibly better than Eschatos. Ginga Force is most notable for having stupidly good music, really creative stage ideas, and the best dialog in any final boss fight in any game ever, but some people consider it a giant and very smelly turd that's even worse than CrazyBus or whatever. Natsuki is less creative and kind of uninspired in comparison and most of its music is just arranged versions of Ginga Force's music, but it's easier (mostly) and probably a better game despite being less interesting, which is weird if you think about it, but that's how it is.

If it was just one, I would get Arcade. That gives you a great port of Darius Gaiden (the best of the series, in my opinion) and various versions of the first two games to experince.

G-Darius is also worth checking out, but it'll no doubt be back on sale at some stage.

Consumer has various console ports to the Megadrive, PC Engine and Master System which are nice to have if you're a completionist. There are also a couple of SNES exclusive games, which I think most people would consider inferior to the arcade games. I do like Consumer, but it's definitely third choice.
