Yeah, I should have welcomed you as well. Always good to have another person playing the quickening!
Credits are nice. you can use them to try again if you thought you could do better, and you can also horde them to force a game once they add up enough

ACSeraph - Sonic Wings 3 (NGCD) - Sgt. Dolphin - Stage 4 Boss - 167,300 - 51C

I kinda feel like Whity sucks or at the very least doesn't suite my play style, but I just can't stop myself from picking him.

Thanks! I have a question about this line "The existing special challenges that allow you to call a forced game still exist, they just let you call a game without spending your credits.". what are those challenges?

Nwodatek - Touhou Fumaroku ~ the Story of Eastern Wonderland - Normal - Stage 5 Boss - 9209800 -3C.

Never played a PC98 Touhou game before, you can see how much ZUN has improved since then. Maybe I could clear it if I used a credit, but I don't want to use them yet :P.

IIRC, the current special challenge is 1cc a Toaplan game. If you draw a Toaplan game, and you 1cc it on your first try, you can also call a forced game.

...The challenge should probably be in the first post, IDK why it isn't :|

BTW: Lotus Land Story and Mystic Square are usually considered the best PC-98 2hu games. They're closer to the Windows games in terms of gameplay, I think. Both have really good music.

Magma Dragoon - Super Star Soldier - Normal Mode - Stage 2 - 308500 - 4C

I find the PC98 Toohoo games more enjoyable. Maybe it's because they're from before this series became this vile cancer that infested the Internet.

Ok. But I don't think I would be able to do that challenge, atleast not anytime soon, since I'm still quite sucky when it comes to shmups.

Nwodatek - G-Stream G2020 - Stage 3B - 508890 - 4C.

Nwodatek - 1943: The Battle of Midway - Stage 2 - 91270 - 5C.

That went awful. It's me or this game is way too hard?

Seems like a decent game.

Edit: Thought I was on Area 2, but maybe it has weird areas that include several stage like things.

Wasted my time learning how the controls works on Stage 1, only to realize later that the Button 2 auto-fires the cannon thing  .

I personally think the PC autofire in MM in shmupmame (It's a hack btw) is poorly implemented, and usually is not a good call. lol. It's way nicer in the DC version. Nice job making it past st2 boss on your first try though. not bad :)

Why is poorly implemented? Seemed like a better choice at the moment.

EDIT: Noticed that I forgot to include the pic  .

Not sure what stage, since they aren't numbered and I wasn't counting.

The issue, IMHO, is that it's very important to be able to access the shield in a split second. The A button in shmupmame doesn't override the B button, so you can't switch quickly between PC and shield. In the DC version you get more lag to activate the shield when using autofire, but the main button overrides the PC auto, so it just feels a little smoother. Pretty much don't use auto piercing after the 4th stage or in most of the 3rd stage, for this reason, even in the DC version, and generally eschew it completely in MAME (though there are a few parts that I find significantly more difficult in MAME due to a lack of DC-style autofire, mostly in the 4th stage)

Also, When there's slowdown in MAME, you get a lot of normal shot when using the auto piercing cannon.

Magma Dragoon - In The Hunt - Stage 2 - 129400 - 6C

Just why the names in the randomizer are the Japanese ones? Sometimes it's hard to guess the games.

Getting Arrange mode from the randomizer is like being handed a glorious death sentence. Tried Chihiro this time, should have stuck with the emo dude.

Anyone interested in doing a forced game with a special challenge attached? I'll call one if there's interest, otherwise I'm sitting on my credits for now.

I'll do it, so long as I can. There're a few people playing right now, so it might not be a bad time. IDK that more are gonna start any time soon.

If the others express interest I'll do it. THis time around ifyou complete my challenge (Multiple credits OK) I'll allow you to force me to play anything you want with any sort of special rules you want to attach, including (reasonable) goals (1cc mars matrix is not reasonable :P). So fight hard at my challenge, and be rewarded with watching me suffer at your hands.
